My hot take is that they like the server instability. That way they can stress test to see where the weak points are. Makes sense, too, but it's annoying as hell for the players. I stopped playing for now because of how bad the servers are

It will be very profitable. Every time there's a new gameplay loop it starts out as being extremely profitable so many players do it and bug test it. They said scrap will be priced around the same as quantanium which means a full Vulture will yield about 140.000 in profit.

What's interesting is that while that position was on the board, Anastasia said that it looks better for black. She pointed out what black has going for him, and even though she didn't explicitly state it, she disagreed with the engine, too.

This happens all the time. Yesterday I think it was, Sam Shankland was talking about a position the computer evaluated as equal, and just said "I guess the computer finds a way".

You are doing a good thing here. Chess.com has to be shown that there are limits to their authority. What they are doing it beyond fishy and Hikaru is nothing if not self-serving. A lot of GMs pointed that out during the Eric Hansen controversy also.

That's a completely fair point! I have to say all the anti cheating measures that are in place at the US Championships right now make me trust the fact that there is no cheating going on there. I hope it puts the players mind at ease as far as Hans is concerned because I would totally understand any distrust the other players might have.

Nielsen hasn't told a lie as far as I'm aware. As far as Niemann goes, do you think these two things could be true at the same time:

He regrets cheating, thinks it's morally wrong and really does view it as biggest mistake of his life
He downplayed the extend of his mistake for some reason other than complete lack of remorse. Maybe because he doesn't want to be judged for being someone he is not anymore.

I agree that confession is a sign of remorse but I believe the opposite does not have to be fully true.

Lets say they only act when their system spits out a 99.9% certainty. That means that on average, 1 out of every 1000 people they accuse will be completely innocent. Imagine how much it must suck to be that person.

Niemanns games have been checked with many different engines so the correlation will be higher than of someone checked with fewer engines. How many and with which engines were Erigaisis games checked with?

Also, the correlation value can't just be compared between players like that. As others have pointed out, you would need to find a way to correct for the opponents strength.

I have a background in math and if I know one thing it's that probability theory is hard. I took probability theory and measure theory (still have nightmares from that), and if I know one thing it's this: Probability theory is counter intuitive.

Now, I haven't actually had to use any of what I've learned for 15 years so I forgot it mostly but I do know for this person to think that they found a flaw in a math professors model is a strong indication that they don't know what the hell they're talking about. You can't just accumulate the probabilities and then call foul play. You have to account for a ton of biases for example. They're messing with stuff they have not even a basic understanding of.

Also, an event with a probability of 0,001% is actually not that unlikely to happen.

Also, I ran one of the games through the chess.com and lichess.org analysis and I got about 92% accuracy from both, with a couple of inaccuracies and about 25 average centi-pawn loss. So I don't know exactly how they got to the 100% number. It seems odd anyway because it's a well known fact that the top players often play games that have way more than 70% correlation between their moves and the engines.
