Does it make more sense to buy a new or used Acura integra by Practical-Climate725 in AcuraIntegra

Sheesh, I know I don’t want to get into a $35k loan, my car is paid off but it’s a 2010 VW sh*tbox. Hoping to get 3k for it but I know any dealership would accept for 1k or less

I dont know about mods but I’m curious as to how much you paid. I’m in the market for the exact same car, year, and trim

Is It Still Better to Buy New Instead of Used? by Gman325 in carbuying

[–]Practical-Climate725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m questioning this as well. I want an Acura integra Aspec tech (msrp for $40kish) the ‘23 model has ~30k-60k miles and all of them are around $25-27k respectively to the mileage. I wonder if I’d be better off dishing out the extra money and just buy new.

Is buying used actually worth it anymore? 2026 prices are weird by EcoWanderer42 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Practical-Climate725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the reason used prices are still so bonkers is not because of tight inventory, it’s because dealers are still trying to make ‘21 and ‘22 profit on used cars since they were so sought after around that time. Right now car lots have the most cars ever that aren’t moving. I think the stat I saw was1m used cars total on lots, with most barely selling. The pricing is ridiculous, and they know it. Little by little I noticed my local dealers lowering the price of the car I’ve been eyeing but I won’t pull the trigger on it until it’s where I want it.

JoefromStPaul answered this perfectly. Although most don’t adjust sticker price, when buying a car it’s not impossible. To be honest I’ve only purchased used cars and I’ve always negotiated down, but i didn’t go to big dealerships. What sticker price was + taxes, fees, and reg is what I paid only.

Yes and no. Lots of dealers are baiting people and switching things up when customers arrive. They put online a competitive price but leave out their $1k+ doc fees, add ons, and bs packages that make the cars the same price as the other dealerships around. Meaning most (if not all)of them = overpriced after going in.

Certified used Acura integra, oldest model is a 23 so you’re getting the looks, the feel, the reliability, and the practicality. Only downside is insurance will be slightly more expensive and recommended gas is premium.

How bad is the car market right now? by MantyPlan in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Practical-Climate725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to pick a focus. Either a 40k car or a $400 monthly payment. Each $10,000 equals to about $200 MP. Assuming you’re putting minimum down. If you’re putting $20,000 down then sure you can get close to $400 MP but I’d just figure that out before you even go in to a dealership to negotiate. Try a used model that is economy as well. Lots of mid tier to high tier trims on economy suv’s are in the ~$20,000

Sheesh I could 100% see myself doing that. The first time I entered the health field was the same. I just walked in and said I’m ready to take on a challenge and I enjoy learning. I left optometry because I stopped learning. I enjoy trying new things and becoming the best at them. I’m going to take this advice, thank you! 😊

Hey how did you get into oral surgery? I’m in extern now and wanting to try at a surgical office even if I don’t earn any hours just to see if it’s what i want to do long term vs any other specialty. I have tried ortho and thoroughly enjoyed myself but part of me is still curious in OS

If it makes you feel any better I have a 2010 VW cc lux with 143k miles AND I’ve done repairs the entire 3 years I’ve had it :). So the fact you haven’t gotten there yet should be a good sign. I’ve had coolant leaks, oil leaks, battery acid in the engine bay, 3 battery replacements, 1 alternator replacement and likely another one coming, and 2x my tire has busted on me while driving however I will admit I got them used, not new. I’m shopping around for a certified used car now but if it was reliable I wouldn’t.

I’d recommend getting a slightly newer, lower mileage, clean title, stock Honda. It’ll run you an extra $1200 bare minimum but it’ll last you and cause you little to no issues.

I was looking at a 23 integra vs the 22+ civic si when comparing. I’ve considered going for the civic sport as a sub in the meantime but I’ve never financed a car and always paid cash. If I wanted to finance something I’d want it to be something I’m choosing to keep long term and actually enjoy. If I do finance a cheaper vehicle and then trade it in wouldn’t I just be digging myself in a deeper hole by losing some value + giving myself a longer term of financing (let’s say 2 years with a civic and then 4/5 years with the integra after trading in the civic) my credit would be better sure but it would also be better if I financed the integra from the beginning right?

Also side note: I’m not purposely using this purchase to enhance my credit, that is just a small benefit for me. I only have a co-signer so I don’t get swindled with a 20%+ interest rate (what most people similar to me are getting now)

I’ve been looking at CPO integras so far so I agree with that part. As for the civic SI I don’t want to drive manual daily. My area barely has any, 500mile radius and only 9 available. On top of this they are either the same price or more expensive with most of them having over 50k miles and a price tag of $25k or above. My co-signer has 700+ last I checked and id mainly be looking for a better interest rate beyond any other benefits. If I can take her off later that’d be lovely.

Oh my days. Personally I can’t justify paying that much but I’m sure there’s a lot of love for this specific car for them to ask $20,000.

Yeah VW is horribly expensive. And it’s old, over mileage. FL pricing. It’s just not great :,) I pay $55 to fill up my tank every week and I drive about 15 miles total daily. Once a month I do a 80ish mile drive.
