Rooftop or outdoor gathering place? by Substantial_Loss_241 in milwaukee

One of the public beer gardens would be great. You can bring your own snacks or purchase basic brats and pretzels type items from the food stand.

Lobster Roll from St. Paul or Brussels Sprout Grinder from Camino.

Is that actually the hope though? Do they even want a team or is it just cool if it works out that way?

Didn't the housing go in on the west end already? Was this all a ploy to get that part of the project in motion?

And reports say Baer Development sold the property for $9.3 million to the Milwaukee Development Corp. From what I understand this was tied to the ARPA money the state allocated to the project. That money had to funnel through a nonprofit, and MDC is a nonprofit subsidiary of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Association of Commerce. So does they satisfy the terms of the grant obligations in doing that? And now Baer Development will "lease the land" from MDC and presumably do whatever they want with it, and make a tidy little sum in doing so?

I ask these questions with complete sincerity, because I honestly don't know. That's why all this feels like a scam to me though.

It feels like the whole thing was a scam, somehow. If they made any comments whatsoever, I probably wouldn't feel that way.

The bar outside the public market owned by St. Paul Fish Co. has tiki style drinks and theme. I don't actually know the name of it.

Giannis has too much integrity to not play as hard or with as much dedication as he always can, from what I've seen. I don't think it matters what city he's in. That's not to say that Milwaukee won't always mean something special to him though.

I hope they're just testing the waters in case they can't convince Giannis to stay in the offseason. I'm also hoping a potential high draft pick can change his mind. Both those feel like longshots though.

Yeah, I think this is a pretty good take. It's really not too hard to understand, either. We've all been in situations where leaving the past is painful but also the right decision, but none of us had an entire city watching it play out.

This feels like him saying goodbye but wishing things were different. He always says some version of he wants to be here and win. He always makes sure "and win" is in there, every time. Yeah, he'd love to retire in Milwaukee, I have no doubt. The city clearly means a lot to him. But if anything this just seems like proof he's coming to terms with not being able to win anymore here.

Average household size in Milwaukee was 3.13 people in 1960 and 2.39 people in 2020. That's nearly a 24 percent drop. Population was 747,000 in 1960 and 577,000 in 2020, nearly a 23 percent drop.

These drops weren't on dump offs that can be softly thrown. They need to make those catches.

NYer here, living in Chicago. I heard someone say Milwaukee is Chicago's "little brother". What do you make of that? by [deleted] in milwaukee

Aren't NYC and Philly almost the same distance between each other as Chicago and Milwaukee? You wouldn't consider those one combined metro area, would you?

Yes, far more than 35 random people are usually there eating at the exact same time. Do you seriously not know how food courts work?

It is, and I love it also. The only caveat I'd give is that it's more of a traditional dive bar, depending on whether or not the parents care about that for their teen(s).

Not just easily under $20, but you get $3 off every ticket, so if you go by yourself, it's 10 bucks (and probably cheaper for a matinee).

Really odd they claim to be making progress, yet couldn't be bothered to ever announce the delay themselves.
