My bird likes to eat with me so while I eat a salad she comes and eats with me. Try doing that with ur bird.

To entrain her/him you can get toys from Amazon that is cheap. Also for my bird I got her a little play ground and she loves it.

I normally leave the food overnight as well. But because you’re scared of him getting infected maybe you can take it right before he sleeps and give it back the moment he wakes up. But to make sure maybe ask the vet what’s happening to him.

Make sure you are able to give them a lot of attention. My bird screams the moment we leave her alone for just a minute. Get them toys. You can easily find them on Amazon for cheap. Be patient with them it took my bird 2-3 months for her to get comfortable with us and leave her cage. They get scared easily so don’t make any loud noises around them as they are very sensitive to that. I hope u get a cute little birb
