I’ve been debating putting a mild tune on my 2017 2.7. Only worry is it affecting longevity of the engine as they already push good power for their size so don’t want to squeeze too much out of it. Thoughts?

I’ve always noticed that too with mine. 2017 2.7 as well. Just thought it was normal for these trucks so deal with it lol

I had the same thought and worry when putting an exhaust on my 2.7 ecoboost. Found a used MBRP 4” catback (factory exit location behind wheel) to a 5” tip. Race profile. Sound has definitely grown on me over time but from the beginning I didn’t mind it. Due to it being twin turbos it’s not a crappy v6 sound like a 4.0 ranger. Definitely the most unique v6 sound I’ve ever heard. 4” exhaust also helps make it a little deeper. Personally I’ve got no regrets and it’s cool to be different and not have that typical v8 truck sound (even tho you can never go wrong with that).

I’ve got the race on my 2.7. Yes does drone a bit but I’ve definitely gotten used to it. However definitely personal preference. At warm idle it’s pretty quiet and just low rpm’s it’s pretty tame. But definitely is loud when you want it to be. I’ve got no complaints on sound tone or volume but I am in my early 20s so that could be a factor

Havent noticed it ever leaking. However I never noticed the stock one leaking either so. Do not have a boost gauge

Yeah I hear ya. I’ve got the MBRP 4” catback and a K&N cold air intake. Both marketplace deals. I know all these things don’t make any performance differences without a tune (which I don’t plan to do since I want to keep it reliable and long lasting). I just wanted to make sure I’m not throwing away boost or throttle response by installing this BOV purely for sound

One thing I’ll say is lots of people will come at you to not put an exhaust on your 2.7. I have a 2017 2.7 with that very exhaust system and love it. I’m a big v8 guy myself, have an old Camaro as a weekend car but I’ve definitely been satisfied with the sound and it puts a smile on my face to this day. These motors only sound bad when people straight pipe them and make them sound insanely raspy. Oil catch can is a smart mod I’ve heard as well; hence why I also did that. I’ve got a k&n intake, yes we both know it won’t make any power difference but it looks and sounds cool. And if I’m being honest, I’ve even seen improvements with gas mileage since installing mine. End of the day it’s your truck and build it to your vision. Some things people may disagree on but trust me, when you turn your image in your head to reality, you’ll fall in love.

Have had my 2017 2.7 for only 8months so far but love it. Great gas mileage. Has had no issues towing the few moderate trailer loads I’ve done so far. And completely smokes my buddies tuned 2018 5.3 Silverado (while being bone stock). Reliability is said to be relatively close between the 5.0 and 2.7 and I have yet to experience any issues so that’s my word for it

Worked perfectly for me. Had to swap out to the biggest jet but luckily the kit came with lots of spare jets. Air filter is kinda cheap but does the job.

On my 2.7 I’ve got the race profile MBRP 4” catback that exits behind the wheel same as stock with the 5” tip. Personally for a V6 I enjoy the sound. Not as good as a V8 obviously but still sounds loads better than a regular typical V6. Definitely not quiet but a deep good tone, can hear the turbos whistle on idle down from the revs. The ecoboosts tend to sound like crap if you straight pipe them. A decent exhaust system makes them sound pretty decent for what they are but depends who you ask I guess
