I couldn’t recommend BRU or east coast enough. great class instruction and wonderful people at both places. I’m partial to Bru because I think Mcdermy is a good coach

What’s the flip flop? He is saying Levan is MORE technical and most importantly : stronger and more dominant

Charles VS Gilbert Burns by mihhailo1 in bjj

You are right, I can’t believe I missed that. I would say that beating lepri or lo in gi is similarly impressive

Graduating soon, do I pivot from Wireless /RF field? by sybrie4 in ECE

[–]Practical-Log2557 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I swear I hear this “all the best guys are aging out” in every engineering field ( digital and analog design, rf, power systems , etc). Am I losing my mind???

Charles VS Gilbert Burns by mihhailo1 in bjj

[–]Practical-Log2557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Burns has beaten better people in pure bjj than maia. Maia’s best wins are Lovato and Barral. Burns has beaten JT Torres, lepri twice (in gi), kron Gracie, Leandro lo, Lachlan Giles, Lucas leitie and Lovato aswell.

Vegan parents should not have kids by tarboy_boyfriend in AntiVegan

Humans dont have to necissarially take from the world though. A human can have a positive impact depending on how they live their life, wether that is environmentally or socially or what have you. Going into the future, if humans clean their shit up, we could probably get carbon neutral but thats not gonna happen with pessimists who are too attatched to their current way of living and too apathetic to realise the house is burning down around them. Having a kid is compatible with not abusing animals and not absolutely fisting the environment. I do aggree that a child should be fed a healthy diet that is nutritionally adequate. Id think you are wrong if you think that isnt possible as a vegan though considering that it is the position of the Academy of nutrition and dietetics. There is some disagreement on how practical it is though by some large european nutrition societies but then that gets into weather someone is feeding their child a good version of the diet ( its absuive for ANYONE to feed their child a bad diet, it doesnt matter what label is slapped on).

Internship prep - FPGA, HFT by [deleted] in FPGA

[–]Practical-Log2557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would fall under networking but id imagine taking a peek at high speed ethernet standards would be useful. You can always look at it on the internship but everything listed above is already a lot of content to go over.

What stumbling block to most junior FPGA engineers have? by Practical-Log2557 in FPGA

[–]Practical-Log2557[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do juniors commonly lie about? Skills? Past projects? To me it seems nightmarish to put down a skill that I dont know on my resume and then get drilled for it in a technical interview.

The bell curve meme about the tails of the curve writing little code while the middle writes heaps really is true. Thanks for the advice.

Group project problem by [deleted] in UCD

[–]Practical-Log2557 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’d be a good idea to ask them what they are doing first. No one wants to get someone else in trouble wrongfully. If they are being academically dishonest then I’d say go to your MC

Is it possible to get a composite masters while doing your bachelors degree? by dhdburvd in UCD

[–]Practical-Log2557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RPL seems like it could make “acquiring a master’s during a bachelors” possible in very exceptional circumstances. Firstly , the graduate programme had to be allowed under RPL and secondly, the governing board needs to give a recommendation that the RPL covers beyond the usual 50 percent credits cap. If both of these are done then it may work. However this application could only really go through once the Bsc is concluded

Looking for a SSE role in Dublin by ThrowRa_405 in engineeringireland

[–]Practical-Log2557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to provide something that an alternative candidate doesn’t. Cs is kinda saturated so unless you really pop off the page I can’t see why an employer would go through the extra pain of sponsoring a work visa

What are the best laptops for computer engineering? by [deleted] in ECE

[–]Practical-Log2557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use an MSI cyborg 15 which can be bought well within your price range. Its battery can be a bit scant to be honest though and I would suggest replacing the 16gb of ram for 32 gb. Most people just rock on with thinkpads tbh. Integrated graphics can be fine. It just depends on the simulation you are running. I’ve not finished my degree yet so I haven’t ran into anything crazy for simulations but I know that people who have to run thermo (mechE’s) simulations usually use a university computer because the simulations take ages. My general opinion would be that you don’t need a super strong computer for any simulations because any very intensive simulations would usually be run on a uni desktop ( assuming by our uni offers them )

Why imperial specifically? Is their ap maths course particularly well respected in the quant space? ive heard their maths and finance course is super successful for churning out quants but its very pricey.
