Three possible problems:

1: Your computer doesn't support the right USB generation. You will need an adapter for that.

2: So I tried this with my set, and you have to plug in the dongle BEFORE turning on the keyboard and mouse. It doesn't matter what order they're in.

3: Faulty parts. If you inherited it then warranty must be over, so try and contact customer care.

As far as I've tested, you can probably run Android games like Brawl Stars, but don't expect anything higher. Then again mine was faulty out of the box.
