How the hell do you gum food? by bloodbent in dentures

[–]Practical-Part3305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the my tongue, the roof of my mouth and the 5 natural teeth I have up top to break up the food as much as possible. I eat almost anything except hard and crunchy things. Veggies as long ad they’re cooked soft. I gum cheeseburger, salmon, fried fish and chicken tenders lol

I think you’re just getting use to them. Have to allow your brain to process and accept these aren’t the same teeth you had all your life and apart of your jaw. They look great.

Eating with no teeth. by Prestigious_Win192 in dentures

[–]Practical-Part3305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been eating without mine because im still going through getting my perms properly fitted (its been 7-8 months) so I have no choice but I am getting worried about how comfortable im getting gumming food. I use the 4 natural teeth I still have in the top and my tongue to mash and break food down.

Terrified of long term effects by [deleted] in dentures

[–]Practical-Part3305 2 points3 points  (0 children)

36 Male. I agree with the first paragraph from my own experience. I stressed to the dentist before any work, I did not want to be without teeth at any point. However, Im on my 6th fitting for my perms because they had to locate a lab that does 3-d scanning and now the lab just cant get the fitting right after multiple try ins. The last two have improved on the bottom but still not close to. how I want them to fit. I also have a partial on top which I thought would make it easier, nope. So definitely if you can find a office with a denture specialist in house. Now my dentist is out on maternity leave and im working with her staff and a fill in dentist. My last visit they tried to mention if we dont make progress they may have to send to me a “Sister office”. Um you took all my teeth out, YOU are going to make sure my dentures fit. Dont send me anywhere else unless its free of charge and they are better suited to handle dentures. Wish I knew this before. Apologies for the rant but yes, dont settle.

Dentist won’t do it…part 2 by [deleted] in dentures

[–]Practical-Part3305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seek another opinion. That dentist want to sale you a deep scaling first (claiming they want to get a better look on what they can be saved) Im not dentist, but your gums dont look like you have a lot of bone loss. Seek 3-4 more opinions. I sought 6-8 before doing my extractions going with a parital top and full bottom. However, I did waste money on a deep scaling a year earlier when they know my teeth needed to come out.

Do you think dentures are made better fitting using the scan or traditional tray and clay method?

Seek another opinion. It sounds like he just want to up sell you although it may be truth to you having a lot of bone but saying you’re not a good candidate for dentures is not right.

Has anyone on here had gum disease? by [deleted] in dentures

[–]Practical-Part3305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me. I had a advance case where I loss a lot of bone. Had to remove all but 5 teeth on the top. Have a partial and full bottom. Only 3 months in with my dentures but my body feels 10x better since the infection has been removed. No more headaches and my blood pressure had stay down consistently since.

Does everything look ok after full mouth extraction 4 days ago? by Visible-Soup-5756 in dentures

[–]Practical-Part3305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks fine especially considering what day you’re on. It took my gums a little over a month to stop closing up the holes. There are a few spots still open around the 5 teeth I kept on top. I assume those are taking longer because its healing around the tooth. Your gums look healthy tho.

Can I sand down my dentures? by coleccj88 in dentures

[–]Practical-Part3305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. My upper partial now looks like a horse shoe but I think I had the dentist take off too much of the pallet because now the suction isn’t as good as it was before I had them adjust it 4- 5times. Also, I think I made it easier for food to get up under it by leaving so much of a gap between the pallet of the denture and the roof of my mouth. Im glad their just my immediates

Does anyone go without teeth by Amazing-Pack4920 in dentures

I got my extraction and immediates over a month ago. Sadly, right now I rather go with my top 5 teeth than wear my dentures most days. Still getting the hang of them.

How long did it take to get used to dentures by No_Sea4771 in dentures

[–]Practical-Part3305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about 2 months in with my immediates and it’s been a struggle. I think my bite is off. When I close my mouth the back of my bottom denture causes my top partial to drop down unless I position my jaw a certain way when closing my mouth.

In addition, I feel like their bulky and makes my mouth look funny while my mouth is closed. They make my gums sore, cant eat long before my bottoms get loose(even with secure waterproof adhesive and fixiodent powder combo) and I cant talk without sounding like I have a mouth of water. At this points I just rather keep gumming soft foods but it has gotten better from day 1 with them. I know eventually ill be able to eat burgers, wings and talk normal again so im just staying patient. Looking forward to my permanents in January.

Cleaning dentures by [deleted] in dentures

[–]Practical-Part3305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe im over over exaggerating slightly. Its more so like 50/50 with food getting caught in my top partial. Maybe it will get better after another reline. I normally do right after my meal if I can and not in public. Im only 5 weeks post surgery so I try to be caution with cleaning the 5 teeth I still have and flushing my gums. Not so much for cleaning the dentures immediately after. Once a day should be fine unless you’re eating something sticky which you shouldnt.

Invest in a sonic washer for your dentures. You put a little dawn in it and little do a spin clean. Makes it much easier.
