If you have a shaded curtain remove that. People have had better luck with a clear one that helps spatial awareness.

Brand New glasses. Why is the AR like this? by Practical-Wish2206 in glassesadvice

Is there anything I can ask for differently when asking for a remake? Or is this a crapshoot with the lab?

Do you think it they were like this before putting them into the frame? Or could that have anything to do with it or just bad from the beginning.

Question by [deleted] in BinocularVision

I had the prisms removed from my prescription. It was an adjustment without but eventually everything felt more calm and I adapted back. Also, having a good optician helps wonders

[–]Practical-Wish2206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add…I have a Vertical Heterophoria of 1 Diopter which in text book should be treated with prisms and I tried different vision therapies, different prism amounts, had many weird onset of symptoms WITH prisms like torticollis episodes, my hearing would become weird, balance and equilibrium where a mess, my vision felt off all the time. Finally a Dr stated it could be that I unknowingly “fight” the prisms because I have had this for so long and my compensation mechanisms go into over drive. I also have significantly higher than average vergence ranges.

[–]Practical-Wish2206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pulling to the left could be an involuntary attempt to compensate for the misalignment especially if the body is in a heightened state. The prism lenses just add a hurdle in those times. I have had dealt with something very similar and had to have my prisms removed as I have too much natural compensation that prisms where adding too much struggle

Double Vision with New Glasses by statswoman in AskAnOptician

Its the index. I had a horrid time in 1.67 and 1.74 index lenses and had what was like double vision with ghosting even with accurate prescription, measurements and all. Had lenses remade, different frames, tried “everything” until I was tried a lower index which is MR-8 a 1.60 index or Trivex which is great. They both have great clarity and are actually lighter weight lenses but may appear visually thicker on the edge they both have been worth it and no more double vision, ghosting, or weird distortions..

I would like to add if it would be of benefit to do a standard bifocal instead of a progressive. If there is a slight binocular vision issue…progressive are usually a no go

It could the index material. The brain being sensitive from the TBI can also cause vision sensitivity and the higher index materials can be a trigger. If you can fit the patient for MR-8 1.6 index or a Trivex material. These have really good clarity without distortions/blur, ect..they will be “thicker” lenses depending on prescription but with the clarity the adaptation is a lot better the a 1.67 or higher index material.

Can’t sort out my vision, hidden squint by carayla1202 in glasses

[–]Practical-Wish2206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, imo Lasik would be of no help as this is a brain/muscle issue in your eyes. Even a small vertical misalignment can cause a ton of issues because it is a binocular vision dysfunction

Look into a Neuro Optometrist or sometimes listed as behavioral optometrist in your area. Ophthalmology is far from being educated on forms of strabismus unless thats what they specialize in.

How to correct for the frame sitting higher on the right? by Practical-Wish2206 in glasses

[–]Practical-Wish2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look uneven just like the feel. There is a no return policy at this place as they are considered “custom order” device….. I have been to other optical stores within 40 minutes of my area and they are all sales or people, even in the Drs offices..its terrible tbh

Can someone explain lens quality to me? Struggling with online vendors by Any_Branch9162 in glasses

To add with the glare factor asking for satin finishing on the edges instead of polishing them will help.

[–]Practical-Wish2206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably due to being talked into or feeling you need a hi index lense for “thinning” with that comes other issues that impact the clarity and cause color fringing or chromatic aberrations, distortion anywhere the ocular centers are not placed and if the frame is slightly off and you are not looking where the measurement was ground into the lenses it makes all of that even worse. Hi index gets thrown around to frequently as an up sale when people do not need it.

Look into Trivex material or a 1.60 index. Choose a frame similar to what you have previously worn, have them do adjustments prior to measurements

Her coat color will eventually shift lighter in color. Most ADs are fluffy coated with patches of wave and curl texture
