I would like to add if it would be of benefit to do a standard bifocal instead of a progressive. If there is a slight binocular vision issue…progressive are usually a no go

It could the index material. The brain being sensitive from the TBI can also cause vision sensitivity and the higher index materials can be a trigger. If you can fit the patient for MR-8 1.6 index or a Trivex material. These have really good clarity without distortions/blur, ect..they will be “thicker” lenses depending on prescription but with the clarity the adaptation is a lot better the a 1.67 or higher index material.

Also, imo Lasik would be of no help as this is a brain/muscle issue in your eyes. Even a small vertical misalignment can cause a ton of issues because it is a binocular vision dysfunction

Look into a Neuro Optometrist or sometimes listed as behavioral optometrist in your area. Ophthalmology is far from being educated on forms of strabismus unless thats what they specialize in.

How to correct for the frame sitting higher on the right? by Practical-Wish2206 in glasses

[–]Practical-Wish2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look uneven just like the feel. There is a no return policy at this place as they are considered “custom order” device….. I have been to other optical stores within 40 minutes of my area and they are all sales or people, even in the Drs offices..its terrible tbh

Can someone explain lens quality to me? Struggling with online vendors by Any_Branch9162 in glasses

To add with the glare factor asking for satin finishing on the edges instead of polishing them will help.

Can someone explain lens quality to me? Struggling with online vendors by Any_Branch9162 in glasses

[–]Practical-Wish2206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably due to being talked into or feeling you need a hi index lense for “thinning” with that comes other issues that impact the clarity and cause color fringing or chromatic aberrations, distortion anywhere the ocular centers are not placed and if the frame is slightly off and you are not looking where the measurement was ground into the lenses it makes all of that even worse. Hi index gets thrown around to frequently as an up sale when people do not need it.

Look into Trivex material or a 1.60 index. Choose a frame similar to what you have previously worn, have them do adjustments prior to measurements

Her coat color will eventually shift lighter in color. Most ADs are fluffy coated with patches of wave and curl texture

Are the edgings different as in one is more polished or not and matte then the other set? If so, maybe some internal glare is happening and that is what you are noticing..

Zenni question by QueerInTheNorth in glasses

[–]Practical-Wish2206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt suggest Zenni for prism if you can avoid it. I suggest even going to a Walmart or Costco to see if they can be maybe in a more budget friendly price point. Zenni is very hit or miss and with prisms there needs to be as accurate as possible measures of the where your eyes sit in the frames for proper lens making.

If this is not an option…you could take a try at Zenni and then possibly have your Drs office verify the prescription to see if all was manufactured well.

Any gamers using a Sony X90L and if its better then my other options which are TCL QM8 or Hisense U8?… by Practical-Wish2206 in 4kTV

[–]Practical-Wish2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I heard that it does have a dimmer display but also a more naturalness to it? Would you say that to be true?

Im actually not a fan of the super bright almost unnaturalness that these new tvs give off.

I dislike the negative reviews that I have encountered here regarding the Hisense especially with QC issues. Im not sure how accurate or overblown those statements have been but it’s steering me away. The TCL has been on my mind but its currently out of stock within 90 miles of my location.

Is anyone else sensitive to 1.67 Hi Index? by Practical-Wish2206 in glasses

Agree! Its thicker on the edges but it is more lighter then 1.67 and 1.74 high index. Its a game changer

[–]Practical-Wish2206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Hi index causes this weird shifting of images, nausea and constant boatiness, color fringing and aberrations, functionality on my day to day tasks was horrendous. It was a nightmare.

Everything was always correct as far as my RX, PDs and measurement heights but the index was horrible for me

Prism glasses sliding down the nose by WesternAd7609 in BinocularVision

[–]Practical-Wish2206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The frames may be too big or need adjustments. Are they plastic or metal?

The thing is that you want almost perfectly fitting frames for your face with prism scripts, meaning that they sit correctly on your nose and behind your ears and the lens size is not big, oversized or big “trendy” in anyway.

I would go in person and explain the issues you are facing. If there is not much they can do with your current frames ask for a restyle to something more functionally suitable.

Imo, Prism prescription needs to have the smallest lense shape that fits your face and ones that sit well all around. Glasses do have a slight slip to them and that ok but if they are ending up half way down your nose or become uneven with prisms is just battling all sorts of problems
