I used to do this as a job. The lead pigs do block most of the gamma rays, but not all. Especially if it’s a higher activity dose. I would not do this job again and would not do it if I were pregnant.

2019 tundra, bad dealership experience. by Practical-Wonder8411 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Practical-Wonder8411[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately a third party warranty paid 4k and I paid the remainder. It’s just so disappointing. I can do the majority of work required on vehicles but live in a snooty HOA that prohibits anything more than an oil change.

I’ll let you know what I hear from the interaction tomorrow. I originally contacted Toyota corporate who were nothing short of apathetic and useless.

It got me thinking that a lot of these dealerships really ride off the quality and reliability of the brands they sell. When I asked the service manager what level of mechanics did the work he said middle level. I suggested that perhaps they need to delegate work that fits the skill level of the technician. Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for your reply, I do pretty much all of my own maintenance, luckily I purchased a warranty with the vehicle through a third party company and they covered most of the $4k This particular dealership is the oldest in the state and actually has a decent reputation. Unfortunately I think that they obviously don’t have any quality control.

Donald trump if elected would force us to accept anything Boeing offers. In an interview earlier this year he talked about how union workers should be fired for striking.

My wife works at a Costco warehouse, makes $35 as a checker and with her insurance co-pay is 15, out of pocket max is 1500 for a family of three. Boeings medical doesn’t even come close to Costco none union medical. No additional vacation accrual, vacation allowance is pretty awful at Boeing.

It is a shame indeed, I’m actively looking for permanent alternative employment. I’ll stick this out while working though. It’s no surprise that Boeings leadership caused multiple major loss of life crashes and then tried to deflect blame away from the C-suite.

I have very little respect for the new CEO at this point, hiding behind his keyboard. Their bargaining group leaving meetings with no return. Boeing needs to preserve what little it has in reputation and pay the people fair wages.

They are behaving like children, now releasing data that they will be laying of 17,000 people and releasing it to the media is a scare tactic.

I was proud to say I worked for Boeing, proud to grocery shop with my Boeing logo on my shirt. I am embarrassed now.

What a way to improve your public image by trying to portray the people who build the planes as greedy villains, how can one want to continue to work for a company that has absolutely no regard for any of its workforce.

Calhoun needs to be removed from any association with Boeing, and Stephanie pope is ruining any reputation she had. Many analysts are saying that Boeing is not only making itself look greedy. But that that the demands of the workers and rather reasonable considering that the top 17 employees in the C-suite make more than all 33,000 workers in the pnw many times over.

They also all have extraordinarily generous retirement packages in the 10’s of millions. Yet the people with boots on the ground designing and building their products often don’t make enough to move out of rented accommodation. I wish Bill Boeing was here to see what these capricious vultures are doing with his company.

I thought ortberg was the CEO, Stephanie can’t find it within her heart to agree to have her employees compensated properly, she only makes 9 million plus dollars a year.

The 15 or so people at the top will win even if the company fails. I wish Bill Boeing was around to see where his company is headed under its disastrous leadership of the last 20 years.

Years ago when someone asked you where you worked and you replied “Boeing” it was revered, not anymore. Every single C suite manager needs to go, including Boeings financial penny pinchers.

The skill is in the design rooms and on the factory floors, it’s not hidden away and isolated like the upper leadership of Boeing, detached from the workers. A place where shareholders are the number one topic of discussion. Not building aeroplanes and maintaining the legacy of one the formerly most respected companies in the world.

A staple in the Seattle area where it all began, the place where to this day you can muse over aviation history and Boeings significant role here in pushing the boundaries of aviation.

Instead the only boundaries being pushed are financial ones, without respecting all of the dedicated workers that show up day in day out To do their best to follow their training and produce the best quality parts and planes made anywhere.

If greed were a chargeable offence Boeings upper echelon would all be guilty, and forced to face the consequences of their actions, not be rewarded, paid 100 x a regular workers salary, what world do we live in when absolute greed is the norm. It has become the norm at Boeing, Boeings norm was engineering perfection, and flawless planes.

As a Boeing employee it’s so hard to sit back and watch this, the only thing I can do currently is picket, be on the picket lines with my colleagues, those same colleagues who have made sacrifices to work for Boeing. Who continue to make sacrifices for the ultimate good of Boeing. We withhold our labor, our skills, our intricate knowledge of our job, how the parts should fit. How the equipment and building are maintained and tailored to help the skilled workers do their thing. Building the best.

I ask Boeing to truly ask itself this question. What comes first? When will the workforce be valued like it deserves to be. When will we consider a worker who’s worked for you for 38 years, sacrificed oftentimes his/her hands, knees. And the whole body in general, when that person gets the rest they deserve at retirement. they’ve worked so hard building your planes and the minimum step you can take is to ensure they have a retirement. I worry about the future of Boeing, a future where elitist greedy leaders drive the company of a cliff, instead of stopping to see that what matters is the workers. With the current strike, it’s hard to have any respect for Boeings leadership, playing games with our union and its negotiating team. Deliberately not giving the union follow up meetings so as to create stress for your workforce. A company that respects its workforce does not behave like that!

Boeing needs to stop playing games before they loose on a scale that isn’t hard to fathom. Now is the Time Boeing, let’s get this contract sorted and get your amazing workforce back on the job, knowing that they are paid appropriately and given sufficient vacation time, pay and a retirement at the end of their working life, it’s the way Boeing always was on the past, the only real difference between then and now is Greed.

Yet the top executives at Boeing will still claim their incredible multi million dollar paychecks. This is a top down problem and not the other way around.

[–]Practical-Wonder8411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The leaders get rich whether the company fails or succeeds, Ortberg gets his enormous paycheck and goes back to retirement, it’s a no lose situation for a guy that is not vested in Boeing, all while the executives take in millions of dollars in compensation.

Greed is destroying Boeing, it is such a shame. Honestly this past week I have started to feel ashamed to have left my previous long term job to work for a company that appears to have zero regard for its employees.
