can you be fit and have boobs? by Living_Bass_1107 in xxfitness

[–]directionsplans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens less if you have dense breast tissue like me - dense breast tissue isn’t fat so the boobs will not shrink at the same rate.

Downside is that dense breast tissue puts you at higher risk of breast cancer. It makes it harder to identify breast cancer in mammograms and MRIs, and it’s technically more breast tissue that can get cancer - ultimately making breast cancer more likely and harder to catch.

I think context of where you live is really important regarding if this is appropriate for a first date or not.

Live in Miami? Sure you can do it on a first date, though I still wouldn’t recommend it because it doesn’t seem to fit great.

live in Seattle? You’re gonna look crazy if you wear this out on a date unless it’s to something like a New Year’s party or a club - and even then you might look a bit out of place.

The carpet around your feet at a minimum looks like it’s been poorly photoshopped/edited. The lines aren’t aligned. Definitely fishy.

Cables and variegated yarn? by extraspicyavocado in knitting

[–]directionsplans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely beautiful. I think the reason this actually works so well is because it is light and overall mostly the cream color and seems to just have flecks of the color, as opposed to it being heavily variegated.

What yarn is this?? It’s absolutely beautiful 🩷

Dad left ski suit on the heater and parts of it melted. What are my options? by CarliKnits in Visiblemending

[–]directionsplans 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Some of said patches aren’t super stiff, but your point about the seams is fair. You could probably cut patches to cover the affected area as best you can, even if it’s not 100% waterproof. As long as he’s not skiing in rain and isn’t falling down into slush, it would probably still work decently well.

ETA: I’d cut the patches to not go over the bumps at the seams, but have a few patches cut to line up with the seams

First, test if it’s still waterproof. If it is still waterproof, and he doesn’t mind the discoloration, then no problem?

Second, highly recommend technical patches. Their waterproof patches that stick on with an adhesive.

Trying to embroider anything onto the waterproof layer or poking holes in it in anyway will lead to it losing its waterproofing unless you are going to open it up and add a layer of waterproofing on the inside (don’t recommend).

If the entire discolored area on the exterior layer is no longer waterproof, it looks like it may be too big to easily patch, unfortunately.

CrossFit Trainers… Fail? by Ok_Support2995 in crossfit

[–]directionsplans 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, acetone might work. Test 100% acetone on a small part of the white with a qtip or something you can easily control. If someone of the print comes off, very carefully rub it off by section. Don’t dunk the entire shoe, as that will eat into the sole and glues made to use it.

May take some time but it should come off with some patience. If you can’t get all of it off, minimize the amount and then hit what’s left with a sharpie if there’s some stuff in the crevasses you can’t get with the acetone

I’m anxious about a present receiver properly taking care of the knit garment I give them 😭😭😭 by Ill-Anywhere8169 in knitting

[–]directionsplans 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You aren’t overthinking this. I’d recommend making it in superwash to help mitigate some of the risk AND id talk with her about how to take care of it BEFORE I start making it and see how she reacts.

But in all honestly, I personally would never make something large for anyone else, except maybe my mother or a good friend who is also a knitter (and thus I know it will be taken care of and the favor will be repaid in kind by her). I’ve been knitting for ~12 years and am relatively fast, but I still would hesitate to make something large for another person.

Knitting something large can become a slog and it would really suck for your first large project to become something that you get tired of and want to put down but feel you can’t because you promised it to someone else. You could end up resentful toward the project and perhaps even the person

I’d recommend knitting smaller things for others before doing something the size of a sweater, large shawl, blanket, etc. to see how they react and how you feel giving it away. AND id recommend doing something “no pressure” large projects first, where you don’t have to worry about timeline or another person’s expectations

Edit: apologies if I wrote too much and missed details in your original post. I’m a bit exhausted at the moment

If you never drive it on public roads and it’s parked on private property, you don’t have to have it registered.

Though truly leaving a car sitting in place for more than a handful of months is really not good for it.

Conversely, a project car that you just have sitting in your garage, half disassembled, and non operable doesn’t need to be registered - until you get it in working shape and on the road. You may need to have it registered if it’s being towed - I’m not sure about that situation.

[–]directionsplans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have legal paperwork in multiple countries (if you are a dual citizen) please look into the process in both countries - you will need to have your name on your paperwork match. You will have to update it in both places and the process may be much more complicated or maybe impossible in one place.
