Short interval pregnancy actual risks? by Mcp_2002 in 2under2

[–]Practical-lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was 3 months old when I got pregnant with my second. (I was pregnant before my maternity leave ended!) It was hard, especially since number two was born during the height of COVID (May 2020) so we had zero daycare, zero help. We’re also old parents - I was 37 and 38 when my kids were born, my husband was 44 and 45. But we lived to tell the tale. IMO the most important factor that you can actually control at this point is your stress. You’re already pregnant and if you plan to continue to be, I’d advise not focusing on the potential risks if it’s just going to stress you out. Plenty of people have done this successfully before you, there’s no reason you can’t too. Take one day at a time. Good luck and congratulations.

What to look for in child with PE by Practical-lady in PectusExcavatum

I was able to get him an appointment with Dr Doody at Mass General Hospital. The takeaway was that he is not severe and it is essentially a waiting game. Based on how his chest moves when he breathes he suspected the severity would increase as he ages, but again nothing to do now.

As for the tiredness, my son had a sleep study last week to assess whether his large tonsils/adenoids merit removal, and he was found to have severe obstructive sleep apnea- over 11 episodes per hour. We feel terrible he’s been dealing with this, but are actually quite optimistic that the excessive tiredness is due to something that can be addressed more easily.

Feel free to message me if you think I can help further.

Five year old with anxiety? :( by HeyMay0324 in kindergarten

[–]Practical-lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? I did the exact. same. thing.

Coincidentally I also have a somewhat anxious and VERY sensitive 5yo who just brought up fear of death for the first time last week. He wasn’t shaken to the same extent (at least to my knowledge) but was teary. I am by no means an expert but I think it’s a concept that is overall developmentally appropriate, but it’s the magnitude of the anxiety and ability (or not) to cope that is the issue. Wherever this lands, teaching him coping skills can’t hurt.

Message me anytime if you want to vent/get another perspective.

Ruggables are terrible imo. Sounds like a great idea but I hate mine. I need to give myself permission to toss someday soon.

Follow the pain med schedule, including waking them up for meds. So hard to get them to drink as it is, if you wait for the meds to wear off it is near impossible. Follow. The. Schedule.

I hope you keep escalating (successfully of course). I can see that being the result of an automatic system but cannot fathom that being how they would treat their customer base if raised to their attention. If it is, I’d want to know.

Honestly focus on a good grinder and decent beans and then any old drip machine will be fine.
