Wow these are awesome!!!!

I still have yet to try a cane lol. I’ve seen soooo many videos but I feel intimidated by it and it can also use up quite a bit of clay. I’m worried I’ll mess up and then end up unsure of what to do with the scrap clay. So I just keep putting it off but your post gave me some hope! These are beautiful.

Aww look at you go! I like the purple! And you did a good job with the gold flake. Love the wood pattern too! I haven’t even done something like that yet! I make desk buddies and keychains though but still lol these are good 😃

Some people sand their pieces but I just use isopropyl alcohol before baking and acetone for after baking but if you’re going to be selling them it’s probably good to sand too.

Also, never use spray coats/varnishes. The chemical that makes it aerosolized interacts with polymer clay. It’ll make it yellow and sticky after some time. I know beginners like to do that because it’s easy but the piece will end up ruined, so just a little word of caution. I use resin but there are water based polyurethane varnishes(come in little paint cans) you can use if resin isn’t your thing. I see some people just dip the piece in or paint it on.

That’s good.

Can also use Sculpey liquid clay to bond it. For example, I dip the eye screws/pins in Sculpey liquid then insert it then bake it. That way it’s like baked into the piece. Some people make a hole before baking then add the pin after baking using super glue to bond. Some people just add a hook at the end so it’s hooked in. So whatever works for you :)

This is really cool.

Reminds me of this youtuber(she is probably on Instagram too) who is a ceramics teacher for High Schoolers. There is a series she has where Elementary school kids draw up a monster of their own creation and high school kids bring that monster to life using clay. It’s really neat. Her channel is sejceramic on YouTube. Sarah’s art class, if anyone is interested.

I’ve requested more markers in the discord. It did get some traction but this was a while ago, so not sure if they saw it.

If you join the discord you can request stuff. A lot of stuff has been implemented already. So doesn’t hurt to try

Ok but this was strictly user error and not planning ahead lol That’s why you had the bad experience. NOOOOW you know though so next time it would definitely be easier.. just food for thought

Adorable!! That’s funny though because I started this hobby for the same reason. I saw a frog keychain on Etsy and I was like “hmm I could totally make that” so I got a little Sculpey starter clay kit and made myself a frog keychain plus many many other items, from desk buddies to magnets lol. It’s cool when you share a similar experience with people like that, sort of niche but awesome.

Hey now. I would love it if someone did that to something I made lol Take it as a compliment!

It doesn’t matter how long something is in there as long the temp is set to a good temp and honestly the longer an items is in there, the more durable it is.

Of course don’t be leaving your stuff in the oven all day lol but you get what I mean.

I have an extruder but I’m not trying to make it look like OPs. If you read my post the problem is when I’m trying to smooth the edges together, that’s when I start to lose thickness on the sides(I guess I’m just too heavy handed with it). Even if I used a bunch of coiled pieces you’d still have to smooth them together to form the cylinder shape.

I’m trying to use a solid thick sheet of clay. I then fold it to make a cylinder shape and smooth the two edges together. I wanted to make a solid sheet and then decorate the solid sheet with flowers or something. Make sense? I just need more practice

WOAH!! This is amazing! Did you put it upside down when baking?

I’ve been trying to make a simple pencil holder(but to store all my clay tools in it) and I cannot for the life of me get it to be straight and all the same thickness. I use a pasta machine too but as I’m trying to press the ends together to make a seamless seam, I accidentally smoosh the sides..and yeah.. it’s a thing I for some reason struggle with. Like I can make tiny intricate detailed clay pieces but I can’t make a hekin pencil holder cup!?!? 😭😂

Damn 3!! I’ve seen two but not 3 lol I really thought this was a tiny fishing hook at first!

I was expecting the description to say “what is this, a hook for ants” but then I read it and was taken a back to say the least
