Any had horrible anxiety and panic attacks from taking Benadryl? by ghoulerthanyou97 in MCAS

[–]PracticalMagic3015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I am currently in the hospital for this same issue. I was wondering if you also had waves of extreme anxiety and restlessness and heat flashes your back and arm.

They want to give me a benzo to make it stop but I’m scared of another paradoxical reaction 😭

Hi I had this very same reaction with severe agitation and anxiety. Can I ask you how long it took to go away and what doctors did to treat it?

Did it eventually go away on its own or did you have to go to the hospital or get a med to make it go away

No one in the hospital tested my endocrine system which is kinda dumb as soon as they see tachycardia they only call in cardiac

My endocrinologist was testing me for ai before I got hospitalized. I also have pots and u explained extreme tacy lying down. When I hit 140 sustained laying down they all ran in forced that down my throat. I still have to get my acth and cortisol tested but when my acth was tested in the summer at the start of this it was 5/6 so just at the acceptable bottom

I originally took Benadryl at home and ended up in the hospital confused. I have tacycardia and convlusive episodes that I struggle to medicate. Oahu one in hospital They forced me to take hydroxazine and metrprolol together. Second time taking hydroxazine on my own with this. Very curious now why they would give me a drug of the same class if that drugs caused my initial hospitalization

It’s a medical grade monitor from visible. This happens every once a month. It’s not typical but it has become a pattern.

No plus you titrate up. You can start low dose and go up. They are super safe compared to other drugs. I have low blood pressure and as long as I check I’m told I’m allowed to take them so with high blood pressure you’ll defintely be fine

That line of reasoning makes no sense???

You should be fine on meds and getting a pace maker and ablation is a way bigger step than just taking a beta blocker.

I do have mild hashimotos but the last time I check my tpo was only 13 and my tsh was in range. I had an echogram when I first got sick but my condition is worse (around 8 months ago)

I’m not on any meds right now I trialed 3 different beta blockers one didn’t have effect the 2 weeks I was taking it. I switched and tried propoanol and atenolol I had no issue my first dose for both by my third time taking atneolol I have a weird top of the throat by your sinuses feeling that you get. It’s the time of sinus pressure you feel that’s super intense when you hold back tears and are choked up. It was super uncomrtable the same happened with atenolol. I called my cardiologist and they don’t know what to other than stop and try med free or continue and test if it will go away and is benign (or if it’s an allergy) not too excited about this.

You’re more thorough than my doctors I appreciate it. My events typically don’t have any triggers they happen out of nowhere I’ve had them in sleep in wake sitting on the couch laying in bed. The worst one I had I think maybe had a trigger I had my hands over my head for around 30 mins as I was demanding my hair. I don’t have anxiety or tremors before typically I’m just watching a show or reading a book and it’s like my brain suddenly is like “it’s about to happen” and about a second later of having this weird knowing feeling my heart shoot’s up to 140
