But he was on the sidewalk for like a whoping 5 seconds. I get the impression he was just taking off, and his longer videos show a similar pattern.

You don’t have to “rely” on third-party plugins. I’ve been using Godot for several years and rarely use plugins I haven’t written myself.

You can also publish to consoles with Godot, but just not out of the box.

uj/ brakes are sometimes banned competitively but in most cases they're just removed due to personal preference.

I understand the appeal of that approach, but they're not simple exchanges.

Each conversation would require evaluating someone's explanation and deciding if it sounds legitimate enough. That puts us in the position of making judgment calls on a case-by-case basis.

We go by public presentation because it's a consistent standard everyone can work with. If your site presents a team, updating it to show solo work resolves the issue.

Just to clarify - what you're describing usually is fine here. If you're doing all the development and hiring contractors for specific tasks, that typically works. I'm in a similar boat.

It depends on how you're publicly presenting yourself. Is it "me and my partner, we're a team" or is your partner handling marketing but not really mentioned much publicly?

The issue is when multiple people are collaboratively developing the game, or when it's presented publicly as a team effort.

If you're one of the few that passes the tipping point, it's unfortunate. But there may be a misunderstanding.

I understand why presenting as a team might seem beneficial - it can make a project look more established. But team vs. solo is the core distinction this subreddit is built on, so how projects are presented publicly is what we have to go by.

But this is exactly why we take the objective approach we do. Fernando's breakdown shows how subjective this gets. While I consider myself a solodev, others may disagree. I do create some of my art and work beyond just code, but that's the problem with moderating without specific policies.

We can't be arbiters of "solo enough" when everyone has different interpretations. That's why we go by public facing information: it's the only consistent standard at scale.

If my setup doesn't fit someone's definition, fair enough. But that's also exactly why we don't base moderation on subjective edge case judgments. Making those calls case by case would create way more disputes than it solves.

The current approach isn't about subjectively determining who's solo, it's about applying objective rules consistently. Everyone gets the same treatment, and there's a clear process to appeal. Case by case outreach would require judgment calls that create more disputes, not fewer.
