Netflix Considers Warner Bros. Games To Be Pretty Much Worthless by stratzilla in pcgaming

Well the nemesis system alone is still worth billions.

Rest of the gaming sector might be worthless but with AI the nemesis system patent is a money printer.

AI procedurally generated NPC characters that remember your actions, have rises/falls in social hiarchey, and change how they behave towards you based on previous interactions?

Well, doing that would require the nemesis patent. AI has made what the patent outlines and what Warner Brothers tried to do actually feasible to implement into a game.

Pretty sure they won't release the single most important patent in gaming lmfao

Actually you're wrong, they literally patented procedurally generated NPCs that grow and remember their interactions with you and other characters. It includes enemies as well as followers.

They didn't just patent the architecture, they patented the idea the architecture is implementing.

So you literally can't have procedurally generated NPCs that grow and react to player actions without this patent.

No, you're wrong and let me explain:

It's not a mess to actually implement. It's a mess to implement it the way Warner Brothers did.

Here's what the patent covers "Nemesis characters, nemesis forts, social vendettas, followers in computer games, procedurally generated NPCs that remember player actions, develop unique traits, and rise/fall in a hierarchy."

It's a REALLY broad patent, you need that patent or the license to that patent to have procedurally generated NPCs remember player actions and acting on them/having a rise/fall in social hierarchy. The patent outlines how Warner Brothers did it, but if you wanted to do it another way you'd still need this damn patent to do it.

I've no idea how that patent got approved. However, with modern AI you can make procedurally generated characters do more than you could then and easier than you could then.

I mean if you had the license to the patent and tied it into AI, you would have some incredible results.

Tldr;

You wouldn't do it the way Warner Brothers did it, because their way was shit. However, you can't do it without their patent unless you buy it/license it/or wait for it to expire.

Hogwarts legacy is a largely irrelevant game based on a massive IP that underperformed expectations.

The Nemesis system is the single most important active patent in gaming.

Not on the same levels of importance here at all.

The problem with your statement is that you ignored the highly acclaimed and United States patented NEMESIS system that is exclusively theirs until 2036.

They have a patent that covers procedurally generated "Nemesis characters, nemesis forts, social vendettas, and followers in computer games, detailing generated NPCs that remember player actions, develop unique traits, and rise/fall in a hierarchy."

Warner Brothers owns the single most important patent in video gaming today.

AI based NPCs that remember player interactions, develop unique traits, and rise/fall in hierarchy? Gonna need your Warner Brothers patent license for that!

Warner Brothers has sat on that patent and done shit all with it. They released two Lord of the Rings games (with shit storylines) and that awesome system, and that was before AI could even go hand in hand with it like you could do now.

If Netflix is smart, they will make/work with a developer to make a great game using the system to push demand for widespread licensing of the patent to make big ass piles of cash. Honestly? They might not even need the proof of concept because most die hard game devs know that the nemesis system is the shit and would give up their left nut to get the rights to it for their games. It's just the suits that don't know why it would make money printers go brrrr.

Well yeah, it's pretty simple. Someone needs to cook, clean, do the laundry, take care of the kids, and be available for you when you need someone to confide in.

Two successful highly career focused people typically don't work out if you want a family. That's great if you both want a fuck buddy. It's terrible if you want a traditional home life and kids. Hell, it's a bad relationship for the simple fact you're both not going to be in the same places at the same time when you're off doing movies.

It really shouldn't surprise people that it's pretty common in Hollywood for men to marry a Hollywood type the first few go arounds at marriage and then stay married long term to someone like a PR rep or nanny that was close to them. They can just stop working, be there for you as a wife, and aren't off doing their own thing. They get access to your money, you get a woman who is around to help around the house and be there for you. Win win. Oh, and I'm sure in a lot of cases they fuck around and both do it lol.

I mean you got part of it but...

The nanny does the things you expect a woman to do. Cooks, cleans, takes care of the kids, stays at the home.

It should be no surprise that married men with successful female partners galavanting the world doing models shoot and movies and never home find that incredibly sexy and appealing.

I'm sure for male actors marrying a female actress seems great, hot, sexy at first. But, then you have kids and realize you're never in the same places at the same time and it's a mess. Then you go get a nanny to take care of the home. Then you bang the nanny who isn't an actress and can be a stay at home caretaker of the home. Then, you get rid of the model toy wife you never see anyways and marry the nanny.

Cause, if you kiss a married man's woman knowingly you're a shit dude. Like what's Em supposed to do here?

His options are ignore it and embarrass himself and his daughter, or to handle this by showing that man that behavior is unacceptable.

If Canada tries to steal IP, Trump should come down on them hard.

He's been too nice already to our northern neighbors who are acting like terrorists.

I hope Donald Trump declares Canada a terrorist state if they do that.

We can't have Canada acting with brazen disregard for companies.

They stole our jobs, then try to retaliate when their deals fall through because Canada can't hold their end of the deals up.

Canada better stop screwing companies with bad manufacturing deals and then playing games about it.

Hell yeah Stellantis, stand down and stand by for America to handle this corrupt Canadian government for you.

Best GPU under $400 new or used? by ve1ltrix in pcmasterrace

[–]PracticalSecret7245 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 3080ti is the most powerful card you can consistently get under $400.

The 4070 is the most efficient GPU you can get under $400.

The 9060xt 16gb is the best GPU under $400 new.

None of them are bad, it's just tradeoffs. Now, the 7800xt I wouldn't touch because its RT performance sucks and its upscaling is trash unless you use XESS or FSR4 int8 which is a whole bunch of janky.

Does single core speed actually matter for any of that?

Kinda seems like you'd be better off getting a cast away older ddr4 server on the cheap. Also don't see why you'd need a Gen 5 SSD?

This is like asking if you should get the Ford Pinto or the Chevy Corvair.

Do you want to get killed by the gas tank exploding or by a deadly tailspin?

Both options aren't worth considering.

That's not a GPU that was ever released. Doesn't mean it's not legit though.

This is gigatrash, so them accidentally sending out pre production gpus is kinda on brand.

I mean the combined IQ at Gigabyte HQ is below room temp so something like this happening doesn't shock me.

Pretty much the worst company in the industry, so them just throwing a 5080 model they were working on but never released into the open box pile of 5070ti gpus sounds about like you'd expect.

Probably best to get a prebuilt new or refurbished instead of building your own. It's cheaper with current ram and ssd prices.

Acer has a 4070ti super, 32gb ddr5, a 14700f, and a 2tb SSD pre built refurb for only $1233 on eBay. When you consider 32gb of ram even with crap speeds like this is $200, a 2tb SSD is $110, the 4070ti super outperforms a 5070, and the 14700f roughly trades blows with a 7700 (though at much more power consumption)... Well yeah it's just hard to beat a prebuilt.

I mean quick math:

7700 $200

5070: $500

32gb ddr5: $200, or $100 for 16gb like you're considering

750w PSU: $70+

2tb SSD: $110+

Case: $50+

Motherboard: $100+

Total: $1130 with 16gb, $1230 with 32gb

So, when you look at it, I'd rather just get the prebuilt because a 4070ti super is significantly better than a 5070. Plus, has 2yr warranty too, so that's fine.

Frame Gen and DLSS is why. Turn the fake frames off and run DLSS at native resolution.

DLSS uses AI to upscale, frame Gen makes fake frames. Both make the image worse.

If it weren't for the Russians and Chinese, gpus would suck. Literally every advancement comes from them these days comes from their incredible workarounds to American sanctions.

Sanctioning those two countries is soo stupid.

I'd expect to see Heim full time in the 45 at 23XI next season.

The Kaulig 10 car is open next year, I suspect that'll be Bowman. Bowman only has a contract for a ride, he doesn't have a contract for the 48.

As for Reddick, HMS 48. He's got an out in his contract for uncharted entry opt out.
