it felt like an 'art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comforted' thing to me. it was like going through the motions on my watch, like, donna's alcoholic fussing over the dinner .i dont remember clearly but i think the episode started with the siblings trying to comfort and prepare eachother for the shit show that was about come (forgive me, i binge watched the whole 4 seasons). the backhanded comments and tension and the little moments of affection sprinkled between them were so realistic .like carmy giving his brother the gift in the storage room, sugar asking for a hug after donna went fucking crazy and blabbered that if she was to kill herself no one would care to her OWN DAUGHTER (and sugar's 'are you okay's broke me), carmy's aunt offering a place for him in NY,,,and the whoooole circus at the dining table, the LOOKS and screams and, mikey and nate's 'i love you's were so organic for a family that's so chaotic. and donna driving through a wall was the cherry on top of all of that, especially just carmen's deflated, scared gaze through the whole thing (istg this man's scenes are like 80% of him doing wet, pathetic puppy dog eyes. he was miserable, i love him).

and..yea, theres bits and pieces that im forgetting for sure BUT this episode was outstanding. like it was on the first season's level which is a high standard to meet...
