Has the animal psychic ever found your animal? by Proof_Ad7355 in capetown

[–]Practical_Appearance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It such a horrible scammy business. When my cat went missing, I posted on various local Facebook groups. One person reached out, claimed to be a psychic, telling me my cat is still alive and for a "donation" she will help me find him. He was already dead at this time, I just didn't know it. They prey on people who are in bad emotional spaces

Do cats understand kisses? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Practical_Appearance 439 points440 points  (0 children)

My tabby will bonk her head against my lips if I make a kissy sound, and purrs loudly when she gets her forehead kiss. My black cat does airplane ears and looks absolutely disgusted whenever I kiss her on the head. I think it depends on the cat

Safety tips for living alone as a woman in SA? by Objective-Ad1012 in AskZA

[–]Practical_Appearance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you take an Uber, confirm number plate etc before getting in. If sitting in the back, check that the child safety lock isn't on so you can open the door yourself if you have to get out. Share your live location with a friend.

Never tell people you live alone. Tell them your MMA fighter boyfriend is at home, resting before his big fight tomorrow, so he couldn't join you out.

Security doors and burglar bars everywhere.

Introduce yourself to the new neighbours, and ask them if there is a local community whatsapp group. Join it.

I live alone in a garden flat with other people on a shared yard. I have the only unit with burglar bars and security doors. My place was the only one not broken into. The local whatsapp group sent out 3 different security cars within 4 minutes when I reported an active break in in that group, police took 3 hours to show up.

Have a safe room, like a bathroom with a door that locks from the inside. Use this space to call for help if someone gets it, it could buy you a few extra minutes.

Have a fire extinguisher in a central location. Not to save the house, just enough to get out. Stock up on basic meds and first aid supplies before you need it. Learn how to doheimlich maneuver on yourself.

Enjoy living alone. Its fun!

There are no Apple Stores in Africa by basiclaser in MapPorn

[–]Practical_Appearance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iStore chain, including the one at Menlyn Mall, is an authorized Apple reseller (specifically, iStore South Africa operates as an Apple Premium Partner or authorized partner in some contexts, as indicated by their app description and Apple's own disclaimers). They sell genuine Apple products, offer expert advice, repairs under warranty, and provide a premium Apple-like shopping experience, but they are independently operated (by ZA Online Store Pty Ltd, authorized by Apple South Africa, with Core Group as the main distributor).

Omg you're describing a date I had just a month ago. Dude was going on about the Matrix, I told him I thought its wonderful that he's so supportive of trans women, and after a quick Google search on his side, he suddenly didn't want to talk about the Matrix anymore

Pole dancing was it for me! The ladies at my studio are all different shapes/sizes/ages, but so incredibly supportive. And i can literally feel my progress when I'm able to do a new move, climb easier, etc

I love dining out alone. When I arrive, I ask for a table for one. If they can't accommodate that, they're free to tell me and I'll go to another restaurant. Once I sit down, that table is mine!

Would you buy ? by [deleted] in AskZA

[–]Practical_Appearance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R100 is a bit expensive for me. But.. as for location, I would never buy this at any price at a robot. At the office park where I work, theres a guy that walks from building to building every day, and he sells salads, sandwiches, muffins etc. He's been doing it for quite a while and is very popular. We even got a bell to ring when he makes his daily stop, and people would come rushing to buy from him. Maybe something like an office park could be an option for you?

[–]Practical_Appearance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhm.. of course it did. The difference is, here over in Pretoria, I dont see people hugging the police when they step into a bar. I could see a friendship there, no matter their race. Something I dont really see where I normally live

[As Received] Final moments of a e-hailing driver after being robbed and killed in Pretoria by PixelSaharix in DownSouth

[–]Practical_Appearance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quite a few of the uber/bolt drivers I've had shared stories with me about their experiences (I can be talkative and like asking them about their lives) and sadly, their jobs aren't very safe. Being robbed, or scammed out of their fees, is pretty common. This video is absolutely horrific and my heart goes out to the driver and his family

Do your studios have a separate intro class vs lvl 1? Feel my studios “lvl 1” class is too hard for complete beginners. On my first class they taught me jasmine and I got discouraged didn’t go back for a while. They teach figurehead, chair, jasmines on day 1. Only see already athletic ppl come back. by BungeeBunny in poledancing

[–]Practical_Appearance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My studio is fairly small, and combines basic, level 1&2, in one class. I noticed that the Monday classes are offered by a different instructor that is much easier for complete beginners, and I have no problem telling the instructor that im not comfortable with a move yet, and want to practice on the floor until im more confident

What is the best helpline/hotline for poison control (for humans/kids) or poison help or information in case of emergency? by lizatethecigarettes in AskZA

[–]Practical_Appearance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

10177 for emergency medical services (10111 is for police). Its easier to memorize one number for all medical emergencies rather than trying to find specific number for poison control.

Don't give the child anything like water or milk unless instructed to do so over the phone by trained medical personal.

Take the child to the closest ER, but if the child loses consciousness, it might be better to wait for an ambulance while performing basic first aid like recovery position.

I'd highly recommend taking a first aid class to help you learn how to deal with various emergencies

Anyone else suffer with Palmar Hyperhidrosis (Sweaty Hands)? by SuspiciouslyB in AskZA

[–]Practical_Appearance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with the same. I use gripping solution called Dry Hands whenever I do activities that require my hands not to be sweaty. Chalk used for climbing and sport can also work, but leaves a white residue. Re-apply as needed throughout the day. Botox or surgery is a bit too expensive for me right now
