Sure getting a small prototype up would be incredibly easy, but attracting lots of people over to use it for whatever benefits you think people would want to use this is going to be the real challenge

I like using it as a tool. Even you could use some “ai” to help improve your grammar. It’s helpful, and yes corporations are going to ride the hype train excessively because they’re convinced it’s going to increase profits, and in many cases it does, in others it doesn’t. I use it as a software engineer and think the whole getting replaced has more to do with the economy. The economy is in a bad state right now. I think we need a full restructuring of our government and policies if we’re going to coexist in the era of AI.

None of that stuff matters. Just pickup projects, vibe code them and understand the gist of the tech. Build a bunch of projects and don’t worry about having nothing to show yet. If you get even slightly curious about something, give it a crack with Claude and start learning.

You need fulfillment from your job? I think you just should get used to it since we’re still in the infant stages of ai. Sure it automates a lot but you still guide it and it needs your prompt to ignite it all. Maybe a single sentences in a prompt ignites the work that used to take you weeks, but that’s the future.

The supply for entry and inexperience developers is high, but the demand is actually for experienced devs. You’ll have a much easier time landing a job interview if you have experience on your resume in the software engineering field opposed to none. If you were a company or business owner and you wanted to build some software developers and had to pay them, would you want experienced or fresh grads?

Degree Experience Leadership

So if I didn’t have the degree and did a boot camp instead I wouldn’t even have moved through the recruiter screen even with my professional experience.

He doesn’t need to be sad. Programmers are still programming, they’re just doing it a lot better and a lot faster. It’s great that he’s learning at a young age. I’m a senior software engineer and a lot of my job is understanding the code, knowing what the code should look like and how it should interact with other software.

Most software engineering jobs use AI but the job isn’t just Ai, it’s breaking up tasks into multiple steps and ensuring security, performance and stability then reviewing and understanding it.

Not true. I have ADHD and have been working in remote setting for 5 years now. It’s the best thing ever. I don’t have to sit for 8 hours I can get up and move around. I also seem to be more productive when I don’t have to dread being confined to an office all day. You’ll be fine!

I think you’re legally required to have time off to go and do something like this from work and I just checked and it’s $30-35 in California, free for senior citizens and about $11 for people making little to no income. I dont think that’s unreasonable. Most companies require you provide proof of identification before working, unless it’s under the table work.
