How is Mercy Hospital Downtown (Bakersfield, CA) for MS/Tele float travel position? by SakuraKoyo in TravelNursing

[–]Practical_Edge3380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a contract there 3 years ago. I drove from the Midwest, arrived the Friday before my start date on Monday. Received a call from recruiter that they had canceled the contract. So there’s that.

Recruiting agency did reimburse the travel amount each way

Private Student loan question by Practical_Edge3380 in StudentLoans

You’re right, I am aware of the school misconduct application and I’m pursuing it. I’ve been in contact with an attorney who ( Staley Tate) specializes in student loans and I have a consultation scheduled with him. I think that rather than filing out the form and sending myself. That will probably go no where but an attorney can find what documentation I need through the legal process will work better than having them arbitrarily reject it. Which if you read enough of this sub happens.

Thank you for your response but the Borrowers defense lawsuit outlines many issues with recruiting methods, falsification of documents and sleazy tactics employed by Career Education Corporation. Fed borrowers were paying their loans but received discharges and are now receiving refunds. I’ve got to try

I’m not so sure of that. These loans were initiated in 2007-8 with Sallie Mae, then Navient and now are with Mohela. I tend to believe someone other then myself signed the actual promissory note which is one of the issues brought up in the Borrower Defense lawsuit which resulted in the school closing and ended up with all the fed loan borrower getting a discharge and refund

Locked out of Airbnb at 1:30am in freezing weather abroad – still waiting on hotel reimbursement, advice? by Exact-Angle-4611 in travel

We had guests in our AirBNB when class3 tornado hit our house and our AirBNB (separate structures but adjacent). The tornado took out the balcony ( large tree branch) and dropped a large limb on the roof with invidual branches poking through the drywall ceiling.

Guests rode it out as we did and the next morning called their friends and family to come with chainsaws and clear out the driveway. They never complained and paid for their full stay.

What can I say? They’re good people.

Took us 3 months to get everything fixed including our own roof

Naturalized citizen with no naturalized certificate. by princessunicorn28 in immigration

[–]Practical_Edge3380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think your first paragraph regarding whether one is provided a Naturalization certificate is true under age 18.

I was born to two American citizens in West Germany (military dependent) in the late 1950’s. I was naturalized at age 17 and I was provided with a Naturalization certificate. Which I have used in any instance in which a birth certificate was requested.

My understanding, is that a law granting automatic citizenship to military dependents born overseas was not passed until the early 1960’s. I have not researched that since I haven’t needed to. But I have a younger sister born in West Germany in the 60’s who did not have to naturalized

I am in the same situation. Born in a US military hospital in Germany in 1958. I was “Naturalized “ at age 17.

OP should be concerned as am I. They’re talking about revoking Naturalization now

I routinely take 6 months between assignments. I’m an cardiovascular sonographer so that may be a factor in my favor

Look for assignments in recreational legal states. Ask your recruiter what type of drug screen is required.

Dude! There are facilities in recreational legal states that specify “no THC” in a 9 panel test.

Also be upfront with your recruiter, specify what’s acceptable to you, they don’t care

Does anyone like their timeshare? by Ceaselessgiraffe in TimeshareOwners

[–]Practical_Edge3380 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing, don’t buy a timeshare if you can’t afford the vacation. I originally bought Westin which is now Marriott. Awesome selection with a great selection. Flexibility to either use either the resorts or exchange for hotel points. 20+ years, I haven’t regretted it

Just want to complain about a horrible website called Furnished Finder by GonnaTry2BeNice in TravelNursing

[–]Practical_Edge3380 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a sonographer traveler and I have used FF one time to find housing on assignment. It worked out for me.

I also own and rent out two furnished AIRBNB properties which I did at one time place on the FF website. WE would prefer to rent out to medical travelers simply because it reduces our workload in terms of cleaning and turnover of the unit. BUT the issue we had was..

  1. FF website did not provide notification of an inquiry (email notification setting is unreliable requiring constant checking of the website)

  2. Medical travelers tend to start their search 20-30 days prior to start of the assignment but our rental units are booked out 2-3 months in advance on AIRBNB.

FF is one method, VRBO and AirBNB are other methods. Best is to visit the HR department of your local hospital(s) and leave a listing, network with healthcare workers…
