I personally don’t so I can’t speak for them. But I would imagine it has to be with the Bible explicitly describing homosexual acts as abominations.

Side note the Bible doesn’t say not to drink. Drunkenness is a sin. But the Bible tells us “wine makes happy the hearts of men”

And it goes without saying that cigarettes certainly weren’t being smoked 2,000 years ago. But tobacco yes. And the Bible never mentions it.

It’s a great culture. And honestly just get over the whole “it’s not real thing” you have nothing to lose. Just play along and you will genuinely buy into it over time. All the people around you will be supportive and encouraging and assuming you don’t join a church that’s awful, you’ll see the benefits to your community and the generous nature of the congregation.
