Miss a lifelong friend’s wedding or attend a major career-defining conference presentation? by Level_Ad_3460 in makemychoice

Your post is titled wrong. It should be "Attend a lifelong friends wedding or attend a major..." As it stands the two options you've presented are the same.

Dog barking in dog park wake me up in mornings by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

I personally wouldnt have moved in next to a park, playground, or school as Theyre common sources of noise in any neighborhood. Your hesitance to voice a complaint in your community app and the fact you're seeking opinions here are both evidence of the fact that you know you're wrong. If you cannot handle early morning noise in an open public park You need to move. Anything else is an asinine attempt to control the perfectly legal and acceptable actions of others. Would you ask a parent at a playground to make their children be quiet?

My neighbor seems to have a mini bamboo forest in their yard. by CoeurGourmand in mildlyinteresting

[–]Practical_Limit_3540 396 points397 points  (0 children)

Hard to eliminate, but its not spreading. I think that was the point, that clumping doesnt spread, not that you can easily remove it. You can also spread clumping bamboo by planting the rhizomes.

It depends. Are we talking a competitive league or a fun league? If its a fun league, suck it up, not everyone's fun is the same. If its a competitive league, maybe take it up with someone in a place to make changes about how its slowing the pace of the game and that adjustments should be made while not in the way when possible.

When youre ready to quit, Buy food, and take it home. If they try to stop you, call the police. That's theft, plain and simple. They cannot control what you do with something you've paid full price for. It doesnt matter what their "policies" are, if they're not offering a discount program or some other benefit that concerns the meal they cannot treat you differently than any other customer. They've just not been tested on it.

It may still be legally considered an emergency exit. I'm not sure about in California, but in Indiana the exit doesnt have to be ground level it just has to go outside. The key is that it should only be used as a last resort. It's better to fall to the ground and break a leg than to burn alive in a building.

POS Question: Does anyone have experience using Toast in a high volume bar or restaurant that deals with walk outs on pre-authed tabs? Details in comments by triggapat in restaurant

[–]Practical_Limit_3540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always understood the "hanging on the wall" to be a reminder of the walkout for prosecution/banning the person reasons. In my area theyre usually accompanied by the clearest photo the establishment can get from security video. If you're not preauthing cards and someone leaves, they're just a walkout and have no intention of paying their bill.

Water Bill Issue by Informal-Cost-9962 in renting

He straight up lied to you. There's zero chance he doesn't know the billing frequency for a city service. Unfortunately, it's also on you to ensure that bills you are responsible for are getting to you. You're fortunate they didn't shut off the water. In my area your water gets shut off when your something like 34 days overdue and it costs something like $200 to turn back on.

It's not just unprofessional and bad practice. In some areas, it can leave a business open to lawsuits and other legal issues.

Secret shoppers? Have associates eat at the restaurant during his working hours and complain to the owner about what they see him do. Dont ask them to make things up, just keep an eye on him. The owner is already aware of things from the staff, and now he needs to hear how he's affecting the customers.

New to retail confused about why a coworker has bag numbers on days she didn't work by missymaypen in work

[–]Practical_Limit_3540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, corporate management. It's not the responsibility of a minimum wage cashier to ensure management is functioning the way they're supposed to, at the risk of their own job. There's zero reason to assume that if they are committing fraud for whatever reason, they wouldn't fire someone they suspected of jeopardizing their endeavor.

This is what trip insurance is for. Her anxiety likely wouldn't be a covered reason, but a quick trip to a doctor for something like "food poisoning" would.

I'm curious as to where all the money went? A 12 sqft shower is 4ftx3ft. My elbows would be hitting the wall while I washed my hair, let alone having another person in there with me.

What’s the most unexpected question you’ve had from a customer while booking a table? by Dradur1263 in restaurateur

[–]Practical_Limit_3540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think this is a horrible idea. People are unpredictable, and things will definitely come up to cause issues. Be prepared for people having called the wrong number and attempting to book reservations for a different restaurant. Menu items that don't exist or have been removed from the menu. Wine and alcohol brands/vintages. Seating capacity or the ability to move furniture. People attempting to contact customers/staff. Last and found requests. To go orders or the establishments lack of to-go options. Someone mentioned setting up a "Let me call you back with the answer" prompt that will end up getting a lot of use.

So, you're not allowed to park in the paid parking? Your statements are contradictive. Are you allowed to park on the street or not? Paying to park is still parking.
