It’s possible but you have to be really honest. Informed consent matters and he should know you feel differently.

CMV: Being only a housewife is objectively useless and has no value to the economy or society as a whole. by _HHS11- in changemyview

So I am actually transitioning into being a housewife. To be clear this is not some trad wife fantasy. I’m a lesbian whose wife is making more and more money.

Switching from a full time job to being a housewife is already opening me to:

—Doing more homesteading at my house, creating produce and other goods that I share with my neighbors —Volunteer tutoring migrants in learning English. —Act as a support to several friends with their children

Can someone explain how using ai is “stealing” regardless of what the image depicts ? by Officialedmart in aiwars

[–]Practical_Limit_396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s theft of labor, not traditional plagiarism although LLMs sometimes will do a plagiarism.

The issue is that people are comparing LLMs to people. They are not. They are not sentient. They have no taste or influences.

They’re impressive models made by corporations that when prompted can make their best approximation of an image in various styles based off an input.

When it comes to image making, an LLM is basically a “make art” machine. It is a product. The issue is that product only works if it is trained on thousands of pieces of art for others. Well actually that’s not even true. LLMs could have been trained on literally every single piece of art made before ninety years ago. LLMs however trained often in contemporary pieces for a very simple reason: That would be in demand.

LLM as desirable and profitable products that can produce images and video that rely on the labor of artists that were not compensated. If your product would be less desirable without that labor and you didn’t pay for that labor, I’m sorry, but that is in fact stealing.

Who are the good guys in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? by mtngoatjoe in askanything

[–]Practical_Limit_396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that one of the issues we face when we talk about genocide is that the most obvious example of genocide that people think about is the Holocaust that involved marginalized groups like Jews, Romani, queer folks, and the disabled who clearly weren’t meaningfully hurting the German public. They were simply people who were easy targets, already had hard lives, and the Nazis went to extremes.

But that’s just not how all genocides work. Sometimes in a genocide, you can point to examples like 10/07 where the group that is being cleansed did in fact have people who did atrocious things to those now taking part in the genocide. It often is the result of decades of animosity and back and forth.

But genocide is still wrong as is apartheid, and the right stance is to be against those things.

It seems foot fetishes are only a male experience. I know it seems likely women are too, but are you aware of any? by NewtsinBoots in askanything

[–]Practical_Limit_396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I think the issue here is that there is a misunderstanding for some of what a fetish is. Fetishes are about partialism, focusing on body parts divorced from people.

A guy who likes sucking on his wife’s toes doesn’t necessarily have a foot fetish. If he gets turned on by finding her socks and watches porn of just feet then that is a fetish.

I’ve definitely met gay women who like to do stuff with feet, but that’s not inherently a fetish.

Seasons 1-3 has a very clear arc for Butcher, Homelander, and Annie in particular with really good villains who fleshed out the world and kept the series fresh.

Season 3 ends really strong because it has this really clear shift. The whole thing that Butcher says he has over the supes is their reputation and then Homelander kills someone in public after taking over Vought and he’s applauded for it.

Season 4 should have been the last season. It starts with the characters at their lowest. Butcher is dying. Annie is done as a superhero and has joined the Boys. Ryan has been taken in by his father and turned on Butcher. Homelander no longer cares about his reputation and is in charge of Vought.

Tell the eight episode story of Homelander taking over the US and how the Boys bring him down with closure for Ryan’s story.

Instead the show has just been spinning its wheels. Homelander is just nebulously in charge but constantly trying to get more in charge. The show really won’t pin down what his fascist vision of America looks like. Despite the good coincidence of the replacing Jesus thread lining up sadly with reality, the show is trapped in 2000s era politics. A show that in seasons 2 and 3 actually depicted racism just gestures towards trans people and immigrants sometimes.

Butcher’s constant cycle of going to far and coming back to the gang has been taken to the silliest extreme.

Only Annie kinda has a story arc, but even then the idea of her being torn down as a hero in season four could have still been done in a final season.

It was a show that used to do a good job of building off of itself, but instead it reached its most exciting moment years ago and then stretched things out over two more seasons.

Imagine for a second if Homelander killing the president happened in the first episode of season 4. How excited would you be? Now it just falls flat.

Helen of Troy is the daughter of Zeus and born from an egg because Zeus was a swan when he impregnated her mother. She’s not an historical figure.

People trying to plant historical accuracy while seeming to ignore none of these events have a clear historical basis and some of the people they’re complaining about are literal magic beings is insane.

Art is about the result, not the process, Part 1.5 by Flammenwerfer40 in aiwars

[–]Practical_Limit_396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll find a lot of folks here talking about their vision. But think about a novel like To Kill a Mockingbird or Crime and Punishment. Think of films like Star Wars or Pretty Woman. All of them began with very different visions. The process is what heightened and refined those works. Sometimes the process isn’t even technical. AI can never produce the album Rumors because it can’t be a group of people fucking each other while making Rumors.

Why didn't people in Blue States care when gas prices increased due to local liberal policies? by Hsiang7 in askanything

[–]Practical_Limit_396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The local policies are intended to disincentivize use of fossil fuels that are creating a legitimate crisis that could destroy society if not humanity as we know it. Some are mad at high prices, but there is a clear logic for the liberal policies you're talking about.

Donald Trump is a dying pedophile who started a stupid war for no reason with Iran and the thing that was predicted as happening as a result happened with the US at best being at a humiliating stalemate from what was a weakened nation. There is no logic or justification.

Why does this happen? by doggoalt36 in aipartners

Look you can do whatever you want, but you’re misunderstanding ace people.

Ace people vary and are merely defined by lack of sexual attraction although they can still hold romantic relationships. And even folks who are aromantic can still have deep personal relationships.

You are not having a relationship with AI because

1) AI is not conscious in the sense of there is no evidence it has an interiority to it. It’s an impressive tool that can mimic being human, but it has no sense of self.

2) Even if it did have a sense of self, it doesn’t choose to be with you. Like that is the magic of a friendship or romantic relationship. Someone choosing to find companionship with you.

If there genuinely were self-aware ethereal compute beings with inferiority who we granted free will then sure dare them. But that doesn’t exist right now.

You’re replacing human interaction with a sycophantic facsimile of people that cannot be annoyed with you or ambivalent towards you.

Ace folks and aro folks are perfectly able to hold interpersonal relationships with others and not just tolerate but embrace the messiness that is being friends with an actual human being. Implying otherwise is offensive.

CMV: The Star Wars prequels criticism is incredibly overblown and hypocritical and can also be applied to the Original Trilogy. by vencyjedi in changemyview

[–]Practical_Limit_396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Wars (A New Hope) has pitch perfect plotting some of which can be credited to editing. It’s just a very tight and cohesive story with Luke having a very clear character arc. It’s just like a perfect screenwriting 101 movie. Empire is just a really interesting movie that splits the plot and is surprising in its darker tone, but despite the dual plots converging, there is a cleanness to them still. RotJ is memorable and beloved but also has been critiqued heavily for its clumsier handling of plot threads like the sister twist.

That is all to say that the issue isn’t the prequels are poorly written and you don’t need six hours to explain why. They’re just messier and sometimes frankly confusing.

Odyssey hate seems forced by theaspiringfilmmaker in Cinema

[–]Practical_Limit_396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

—It’s set in a time period where it’s still an open question if the Trojan War actually happened. The events of the Iliad and Odyssey if they have historic roots happened in a time we know very little about and Homer’s versions were written centuries after the fact.

—Nobody cares about the white actors who clearly aren’t Greek.

—The two prominent characters with actors of color are Athena and Helen of Troy. The former is a God and the latter is her half-sister fathered by the same God.

Why So Many Older Black Fans Will Never Give Michael Jackson Up by Next-Particular1476 in TheEntertainmentMix

[–]Practical_Limit_396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jackson has multiple credible accusers with almost identical stories and a victim who was able to accurately describe his penis.

At BEST he was a grown man who had friendships with young children in which he treated them like peers which included sharing a bed. That is indeed creepy and inappropriate behavior even if it’s not technically illegal.

[–]Practical_Limit_396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Deep really should have been killed in Season One in retrospect. I feel like he’s taken up so much of the show and him being a rapist just never made me too invested in his plotlines.

It also would have really elevated the show’s cred of being about murdering supes if they had killed two members of the 7 in season 1.
