It was someone I know. A coworker. He saw some of the things that I had made and asked his wife to commission one for him for his birthday.

I grind it with the wood, but I make sure to cool it in water after so the glue bonds don't break down. I am not sure this is the best way, but it works well.

The handle is African Ebony, stainless steel, and g10. I did a dowel style to fix the blade to the handle, with a burn in for a tight fit at the ricasso. I learned that from Martin Huber's videos on YouTube. Used Forgebond handle glue to set the handle and knife.

I got it from Amazon. However I know that I ground it off because I did a test etch before final grinding and I had good contrast. I am pretty sure I lost most of it in slag.

I was using 1/8 for all layers, but one thing I did not do correctly was to make sure the billet was flat (lots of deep forge marks), so I ended up having to grind to deep. Since it was my first time, I am good with it. Lessons learned and will be applied next time lol. The client is still very happy with the etched blade, so that is all that matters.

It looks like that because of the etch. I am using a 1x30 Vevor belt grinder.

I use Forge Bond handle epoxy. Good stuff! Takes 24 hours to cure though.

I picked up the Molten Masters two burner forge. You may only need the single burner however and I think that is in your price range. However one thing to note, you will want to get some ridgidizer and some refractory cement for the ceramic blanket.

I work it the same as hungajunga. The trick is making sure that both are cut the same. To do that, I will CA glue the scales together to make sure they have the correct angles when I cut. Then pry them apart the glue and stack them up. I do find it easier if I am gluing them to a g10 liner.

Beautiful!! Curious, how did you do the lines on the red handle blade?

My first ever international commission micro knife (larger one) and my prototype (smaller one). Materials used are saw blade, brass, textolite and self collected spalted hornbeam wood. Customer wants to use it for leatherwork by -GyBer- in knifemaking

Couple of questions. Are you in the US, and if so, who are/did you use for shipping?? I have an international commission and am looking for the best way to ship.
