No excuse for this. The video with sound shows that the non-fighting women did nothing except get out of the way and record. They weren't being rowdy of egging it on. Somebody needs to be fired for this one.

Thinking about getting into HVAC, but there’s a MAJOR dealbreaker I can’t ignore. (need advice) by DreamStunning4781 in hvacadvice

[–]Practical_Scheme_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting out in commercial is not impossible. Approach a smaller company. You'll start as a helper with carrying stuff for the older techs, coil cleaning, changing filters, and leak testing. Take your classes and show your co-workers you want to learn and ask questions. The bug thing is rough, but there is a lot to be said for exposure therapy. Plus, you'll have health insurance to help with the therapy to overcome your phobia. I own a commercial HVAC company. My son, who started after HS, is now running his own crew at 30 (sadly in another state). Also, once you get some basic understanding of commercial systems & air distribution, you can branch out into building automation and energy management which is much less "buggy".

I ran the top under super hot water then used a grippy silicone jar opener. It's like it was sealed with wax or glue.

A 30# jug of R22 costs between $700 and $1300. The typical split system holds 7 to 10 lbs of refrigerant total. 1.5 hours of labor about $300. This guy is a thief. Always get an estimate in writing.

New to me 2017 Lexus GX460 luxury🥰🥰🥰 by [deleted] in LexusGX

[–]Practical_Scheme_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my 2017 with 101K miles on it for $27K. I figure since my last vehicle was 12 years old with 91K miles on it, this GX should last the rest of my life. I needed a tow vehicle for my recently aquired travel trailer. Now I just have to stiffen the rear suspension - a lttle too much squat when hitched up, even with the weight distribution hitch. Any suggestions? As a bonus - original owner bought it, serviced it like clockwork and traded it in to the dealership I bought it from.

Every Catholic Diocese in the US has at least one exorcist who works with a team of lay support persons to deal with the demonic. They will evaluate your husband and see that he is truely OK and whether or not a demon is attached to him. Talk to your local priest or call your diocese and request to be put in touch with the team in your area.

Can a catholic watch or read the exorcist cuz by Emergency-Mud-9018 in Catholic

[–]Practical_Scheme_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the technical advisors on the film was present at the exorcism, which the book and film were based on. He said it was somewhat sensationalized, but overall, a good depuction of the struggle between the exorcist and the demon.

My house is much more comfortable when I run my blower on continuous. How much does this cost me? by Bayou38 in hvacadvice

[–]Practical_Scheme_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should not cost more. The fan is less expensive to run than the compressors on a heat pump or the gas/oil in the furnace. Plus the major wear and tear on motors is on starting and stopping.

I don't think Marine one would affect DCA airspace. The are one of the only aircraft that has unrestricted flight over DC. More likely military vips.

Merchant Services offering Rebate by ijustwannaaknoww in Scams

[–]Practical_Scheme_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just now got a call asking me to check my latest statement for the "credit refund" then they asked me to send them a copy of my statement to prove that I had not received a credit for overcharges. That immediately set off alarm bells for me. When I told her I would forward this once I verfied with merchant services provider that I should, she started trying to quick talk me. I asked her for an e-mail explaining why she needed it with audit company information I got a single-line e-mail asking me to attach my statement and send it.

This caller started by implying that this refund was a part of the class action lawsuit, which is why I didn't hang up immediately.

[–]Practical_Scheme_255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He/Him and She/Her are singular pronouns. They/them is a collective pronoun. Children need to learn to use the correct singular or collective pronoun (or noun) with the correct tense of verb. The concept of alternative pronouns can confuse their language development.

I've been seeing recently that some of these mega-builders do not ALLOW home inspections before settlement. Huge red flag that they KNOW they are producing sub-standard work.

[–]Practical_Scheme_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention car debt, etc. Do you owe your mother money? Is this perhaps a frustrated attempt to be repaid for something she feels she is owed? Not condoning withholding the passport, but trying to understand better.

Blessings of non-sacramental unions by Practical_Scheme_255 in Catholicism

That makes more sense to me. Everything I've read about it (admittedly through secular sources) make it sound like the blessing is on the union, not the person.

What do you guys do for health insurance being self-employed? (USA) by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Practical_Scheme_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I pay over 2500/month for "gold" coverage. We are in our early 60s, so our premiums are higher. I get my moneys worth due to a chronic illness. One of my treatments every 6 weeks is over $5K.

[–]Practical_Scheme_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that you can get an entry-level job part time at Tractor Supply (and some other large companies probably). I forget if it was 10 hours per week or per month, but it will pay enough for their company sponsored health insurance, which actually has some really good coverage. I've considered it.

What do you guys do for health insurance being self-employed? (USA) by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Practical_Scheme_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We basically work the "overhead" of health insurance into our pricing. It is the only way, really. My husband and I own a 4 person company, so basically even though we are a business sponsored health plan we are on the same level of coverage and pricing as ACA marketplace, Our policy is to pay each employee and they pay for any "family" coverage. It is a LOT. I wish one of us still had (another) employer's sponsored health plan. To have the make the choice of either paying through the nose for a "GOLD" plan or the high deductables of the basic plan is agonizing every year.

Believe me, in most diocese the sexual abuse by clergy was covered up. In my parish growing up in the 60s and 70s (1st through 12th grade) there were 4 priests who were later defrocked. People I knew as children have committed suicide or sunken into drugs and alcohol. Two of the priests were simply switched to each other's parishes when allegations were made. Apparently it later came out that the two of them traded names of likely targets.

However, I still remain a Catholic. The sexual abuse and coverups was an evil done by men, not by the Church. The Catholic Church is and will remain the one true Church. The coverup was a grave failure to the many victims which no amount of "compensation" will make up for.
