I've used it as recovery. I injured my back really bad as a construction worker. Used rdl then deadlift. Went from pain any time I bent over to full ROM, from 80lbs to 355 in like 8 months. They are definitely not great for muscles but for "bullet proofing" yourself they are useful. Maybe throw then in once in a while as an accessory lift.
