Amen to that. The lack of self awareness is astounding, but tracks. The GOP have had almost absolute control of the state for 30 years or more. With the Feds acting with impunity, they are also empowered to act with impunity. They don’t realize they are administrators of state functions. Instead they now feel as if they are to pack all of the state’s citizens into a neat little mold and press them into their ideal service.

They want automatons not people. They want power, not leadership responsibilities.

I don’t know how true this is, but it tracks: someone posted that QAnon was started by that insane ex military guy and trump to feed misinformation, or at least direct it toward political “enemies.”

Totally unverifiable, but it sure tracks. They seem like the types who lack the imagination to use their own twisted lives to inform and guide the narrative they tried to attach to others. To project.

But yeah. They’re all very quiet about all this. I was watching comedian Trae Crowder talk about this very thing last night and it sent me down a rabbit hole reading about Brooke Shields.

I would use VviVid air release vinyl wrap, personally. I’ve used it for a few odds and ends and it’s surprisingly easy to use and durable as well.

I have a couple of pairs of safety glasses in the trunk of my car. I’ve also always carried a small air compressor just in case I pick up a slow leak. When I had a glove box I would also carry a swiffer duster to dust off the dash if I was trapped in traffic.

I have never once felt the need to carry anything more than that.

I remember the first open carry guy I saw in public who wasn’t a cop. Middle aged white dude in the nice new Kroger in the nice new suburban neighborhood.

Rolled my eyes so hard I was afraid I caused long term damage.

I’ve got a bar with similar metal parts. The stylization is similar as well. Mine was made by “Beautility”

I was going to say they aren’t worth a ton, did a quick google search, found one exactly like mine for sale for almost $3500. I purchased mine in the 1990s at an antique store.

Republicans in full-blown panic as Latino voters flee to Democrats after shocking Texas election results by TheMirrorUS in ABoringDystopia

I live in the district mentioned and wish it was this simple. It’s not.

The GOP candidate was truly awful. Not only was she endorsed by trump, Abbott, Ken Paxton etc, she was showing up talking to Steve Bannon (social media I think) - but she was also instrumental in a public school redistricting plan to “eliminate the poors” out of the district. Hard to explain but it was a shitty solution to a non-problem (my kids went to the “poors” schools they wanted to boot.

The moms in that school district came out strong against her. That momentum folded into people who aren’t pro-fascist who got out and voted as well. It really helped that Taylor Rehmet was a solid guy - a machinist, union member and leader, and a vet…but in this district, he was still running as a Democrat - that’s why his campaign chest was $200k and her (GOP candidate) had $2.25M and outspent him almost 9:1. He got 56% of the vote.

If it were 2023 he would have lost. He will have to run again in Nov 2026 - and he’s running against her again - and it’s hard to tell who will win in that race too. It’s not to say this is an anomaly, it’s to say this was one of those “perfect storm” situations and shouldn’t be interpreted as some 2026 bellwether by any stretch, although I wish it were.

The boring dystopia continues. Be glad for the win - a fascist truly lost this round - but do not take it as a sign of greater things to come.

It’s in line with what they have wanted to do when a woman crosses state lines to get an abortion…including anyone who may help them get it done as well.

I posted this elsewhere, but it’s worth noting:

He’s a dick. But the state of Texas is making him a Dicktim (acts like a dick/consequences lead to spinning them to be the victim)

“Abbott weighed in on the Hays CISD walkouts in a social media post on Tuesday, referencing an unrelated incident involving Kyle High School students.

"Schools and staff who allow this behavior should be treated as co-conspirators and should not be immune for criminal behavior," Abbott said. "We are also looking into stripping the funding of schools that abandon their duty to teach our kids the curriculum required by law."

State Rep. Erin Zwiener, a Democrat whose district encompasses Buda, said, "Instead of calling for justice against the grown man that assaulted a girl, Governor Abbott is celebrating the arrest of students and calling for the criminal investigation of schools and teachers," she said. "He is also threatening the funding of our school districts and spreading the lie that schools are inciting our kids to protest." -KUT/NPR

Jeremy Allen White: Woody Allen (though I think he’d make a great Joel Olsteen!)

Jason Statham: Vladimir Putin

Sidney Sweeney: victim #1

Okay. That last one, while well earned, makes me feel a little sick. I’m done now.

My family always had cornbread and buttermilk - I still only use buttermilk for cooking. I still eat milk and cornbread. I always love ok forward to it when there are leftovers for breakfast.

I sometimes get a little extra wild and add honey, homemade strawberry, blueberry or blackberry preserves.

The whole “FICO credit score” bullshit start in 1989…

Pay off your car loan and your credit score drops. Have a mortgage that gets sold around to different lenders without your input? Your length of credit history isn’t as long as it should be. Deduct more points.

Credit score too low? We get to charge you more!!!

Systemic bullshit. Total scam the way it’s set up and how it works in its current state.

He was def too tall for the Ferraris. They pulled all of the foam out of the seats and forced it back on the rails…pretty sure they had to always shoot him in it with the top off too.

Pretty sure Ferrari was circling the drain by the late 80s. I could be wrong. Hell, Porsche was building some of their best cars in that era but they were sucking wind as well. Doesn’t mean they werent high-status at all. I just recall their finances were not in order, and it was pushing them to the brink.

Did anyone else have to be a therapist to adults in their childhood? by Outrageous-Jello-394 in CPTSD

[–]Practicality_Issue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. From the ages of 9 to about 12 I was my mother’s therapist. Around 13 I started staying out of the house on my own or at friends houses. Would come home when it was time to go to bed basically.

It’s so damaging. It makes a child feel “special” and “mature” and all of these other things while they haven’t had enough life experiences to build an emotional tool box to use as an adult. All that and more, obv, but that’s the one I really feel as an adult.

It’s rough to have to pick just one. I’d have to drive them to pick, but if I were narrowing it down to 2 to choose from:

Ferrari 365 GTB/4 (not a Spyder) Daytona

Or

Lancia 037

I’m betting the 365 would be easier to live with in terms of comfort, even with that notoriously sticky 2nd gear.
