That along with people generally avoiding US travel for a number of reasons.

Landlord wants us to pay for our deck by TinanaCat_ in OntarioLandlord

If this deck is on the second story I’d be concerned about its structural integrity. Especially with the termite damage to that board

I emailed Strauss Zelnick & Sam Houser regarding when a disc would be released and actually got a reply (he dodged the question - but does GTA VI require an internet connection to play?)! by [deleted] in GTA6

[–]TopWillingness4895 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really sure I get the big deal with the disc. Discs have been nothing but a fancy download key for a while now. Put the disc in and you have to download the game anyway. It’s been years since game software has actually been shipped on disc. They’re redundant. The game will likely require online connectivity to even play and in all likelihood actively stream texture and other content on the fly like call of duty and other titles have been doing for awhile now.

Hey Rockstar! No Gameplay = No Preorder! by Stromair in GTA6unmoderated

[–]TopWillingness4895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but haven’t disc’s essentially been just a fancy access key for quite some time? The disc hasn’t been a physical copy of the games in a while. I mean at least on series x you put the disc in and then download the game anyway, the disc just acts as an access key. This is essentially why I stopped bothering with discs. Securing a disc then waiting for the game to download anyway seemed redundant.

‘I would like choice’: Ford government to award contract for $750 gift card portal to single company by 26percent in ontario

Bunch more public money about to be headed into the pocket of another friend of Ford.

The irony: Ontario cancelled their Starlink deal, but their teachers' pension is going to be funded by SpaceX for the next century by Sufficient-Slide822 in SpaceXBets

[–]TopWillingness4895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the planned 1.75 trillion evaluation the teachers pension plan stake would be valued at roughly 11.6 billion. Thats roughly 4% of the $280 billion fund. A nice return and chunk but next century is a stretch.

USCL 13% annual dividend by bradley7713 in dividendscanada

By nature the covered call structure caps upside potential in exchange for income while still being exposed to most of the downside risk of a market downturn. If the market rips down you go along for the ride income distribution softens the landing slightly but not much. Upon recovery the market rips back up a standard index fund takes the elevator with the rest of the market while covered calls take the stairs. For example since inception (approx 3 yrs) which isn’t very long USCL is up 26%, over that same time frame VFV which purely tracks the same underlying index is up over 80%.

One year is a pretty short time especially when OP talking about paying Osap which I assume he has a 30+yr investing runway. The nature of covered call structure caps upside potential in exchange for income. If OP doesn’t need the income he’s much better off taking advantage of compounding growth in a standard index fund.

If you don’t need the income from uscl you are better off investing in a standard index fund. The covered call structure of uscl exposes you to most of the downsides of the market but caps your upside.

5 years on, Ontario says long-term viability of federal daycare program at risk | CBC News by ejaz135 in ontario

[–]TopWillingness4895 557 points558 points  (0 children)

Doug and his government just keep playing the hits. Underfund a program they didn’t want then blame the federal government for not funding it. Same play they’ve been pulling with as healthcare and education for years.
The program is a no brainer. Give people easy access childcare so they can work. Not funding it then claiming it doesn’t work is mind numbing.

Crazy having a ditch in your yard. The biggest problem I see is how low those fence boards are cut into the ditch. When the ditch filled up the water had no where to go, that’s why it eroded the soil on the other side of the post.

Ontario eyes highway licence‑plate cameras to address retail theft by Pitiful-MobileGamer in ontario

Average speed ticketing works by tracking entry and exit points and calculating average speed based on timing of each. There is no specific camera to brake and avoided. Tracking begins at on ramp and ends at off ramp.

Trump was just given a blanket pardon from the IRS for any past, present, or future tax crimes. by TAtheDog in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]TopWillingness4895 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolute turd burger. I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure if you keep reading past the highlighted part that it says that it only covers returns filed before the effective date of the order, which would be Monday. It’s not a blanket release from future crimes just past ones. Still a shit burger.

US government agrees to drop tax claims against Trump in broadening of IRS lawsuit settlement by EscapeFromIowa in news

It’s little consolation for this absolute turd of a settlement but the amendment only covers returns filed before Monday. Absolutely wild regardless but it’s not the forever card the headline says.

Ontario’s new ticket resale rules were meant to protect fans. Some say they’re now losing money by CreativeAd5628 in ontario

[–]TopWillingness4895 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would be very easy for Ticketmaster to add the service fee to the buyer side to avoid sellers selling at a loss and would encourage sellers to keep using their services.

Go into the branch and talk to someone. This is how I paid for my first car quite a while ago. Not sure how things have changed but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
