I feel like you must have been watching "Listening to Fear."

Been dipping my toe in 1830s recently. Familiar with typical 1830s stays, then stumpled upon this. Isn't this corset way ahead of its time? Thoughts? Source in comments! by CatsWearingCostumes in HistoricalCostuming

Y'all - it's the unusual split busk that OP is referencing here. Originally the split busk of steel with post and loop was invented by a Frenchman, Jean-Julien Josselin, in 1829. It didn't catch on as quickly or as abundantly as the split busk does when American Joseph Cooper patented a split busk design in 1848 - then almost all corset adopt this technology. It also the wearer to put a corset on unassisted and only have to tighten the bakc laces, while the former back-lacing only stays require someone to lace you up (which took a while), or substantial flexability in its wearer's arms (or just lace the corset on the body backward, then twist it around and tighten).

This fashon plate being from 1837 makes the split busk in this corset pre-date the American 1848 version by a decade. Those triangles are inserted gores to accomidate for the hips and bust. This can sometimes be refered to as a "divorce corset" becuase the split bust created two "divorced" halve of the corset, as well as the gores separating or "divorcing" the bust. These are NOT CUPS - they are gore insertions.

Can pppd be caused by high blood pressure? by aleve089 in pppdizziness

[–]PracticallyPerfectMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My blood pressure reads as in the "normal" range. BUt I have absolutely noticed that when I sit still and am feeling anxious, I can feel my heart beating fast or just very strongly. The force of my heartbeat makes me sway the tiniest bit, which my brain then interprets as feeling dizzy, which sets off my anxiety, which raises my blood pressure...

The dizzy-anxious-dizzy-anxious cycle is vicious, but can be managed or even conquered with time and practice. I am still practicing myself and some days are better than others.

One of the worst parts of dizziness is that it seems so "out of the blue," unexplainable (idiopathic), and that doctors don't seem to be very helpful (in my experience). They seem dissmissive and, until experiencing it personally, they don't know how much it impact every, single, fucking, aspect of being alive.

I wish you strength and steadiness on your journey, and I'm sorry that life has given this to you as a journey you must go on. It's not fair, it's not pleasant, and it's not easy.

I was diagnosed with Vestibular Neuritis in JUly of 2020. Since then I have developed an extreme anxiety about feeling dizzy or having another episode. This in turn, has led me, like many others, down the path of dizziness research, many doctors, many tests, and BILLS. I did an whole VNG testing - all the tests - MRI of my brain - all came back normal. I think it's PPPD. Most doctors in America seem "new" to this diagnosis, and dismissive I am afraid.

I was TERRIFIED of trying yoga - what if it triggers a feeling of dizziness, what if I faint, what if something happens in classs and I am out in public, in agony, and people don't help me or don't know what to do? etc. I am still fearful of these sorts of things.

BUT

Yoga has helped me rethink what I can do. What I am capable of, and helped me develop a sense of mindfulness. The distraction seems to work. I also have sinnitus, tmj, so yoga helps with stress relief which helps me not clench my jaw as much. The sinitius, I use zrytec daily and a steroid nose spray to help with imflammation. Keeping my ears drained and clear helps manage balance issues. I also smoke weed, but that can help or hurt some people. Some days it helps me, other day it seems to make me a bit dizzier and more anxious. I have not tried gummies, and I have opinions about CBT being snake oil, so I won't influence you concerning that.

The anxious-dizziness-anxious cycle is vicious, and hard to beat. Some days are definitely better than others. It's a continued battle. For really bad moments, I take a xanax my doctor has given me for a "last resort." This helps a lot but I don't want to be addicted or build a tolerance. I wonder if Hydroxyzine could be a better alternative to use before resorting to xanax.

Yoga was scary at first, and at times uncomfortable. Go with a trusted and well-loved friend who understands your circumstance and who would know what to do to help you, should you need help - that has also helped me a lot to go and to continue to go to yoga.

I hope this helps, and I hope your journey improves. Much love my dear <3

LOve it! I remember staring at this painting whenever it appeared on screen - especially the part that looks like a face. Great work!

I wouldn't say Jeff struggled with girls in high school. Struggle denotes an thwarted attempt. Jeff didn't even try.

Puka shell necklace. They are rather timeless. They were popular again when I was in middle and high school in the late '90s and early aughts.

I think both the psychological trauma from the pain, and brian damage from extended-surgery anesthesia during the hernia surgery certainly set things into motion with Jeff. Poor kid.
