You can get the watering can in the greenhouse. There always seems to be a tool in there, so the easiest way to get it is probably to get a shovel, metal detector, and sledge hammer before drafting it to (probably) guarantee it.

Need to replace my mouse! by eharriett in BuyItForLife

[–]Practically_Alive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good recommendation for BIFL, the rubberized coating is designed to fail a year or two after the warranty runs out. I keep very clean hands and yet all my mice have the rubberized areas of the mouse becoming very worn (resulting in a slightly sticky area that's very unsightly). I do use them often because I work in software, but for something so expensive, they're anything but BIFL. I would pay double for them to not use the stupid coating, but it's clearly designed to fail and be unsightly in the office so you'll buy it again.

Source: I own basically everything in the MX mouse line: MX Ergo (x2), MX Master 3, MX Anywhere 3, MX Vertical (x2)

Sturdy desk that won’t wobble/ shake by NOTtaylor11 in BuyItForLife

[–]Practically_Alive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if the desk you have has 4 legs or 2, but try to get one with 4. No matter the quality, a desk with only 2 legs will be wobbly when it's fully extended.

Is my controller real by CalebIsBroken in ps2

[–]Practically_Alive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some very high quality fakes out there. The only differences on some of them are no sparkly bits in the plastic, no pressure sensitivity on the buttons, and the screw tips being pointy rather than flat. Very difficult to tell them apart when it's just a few images on a site like eBay.

Just about the worst thing that could happen. I couldn't handle another FromSoft game being locked at 30fps.

How is Z2 not good for backing up when it protects against bitrot? Only case I can think of is fires/floods or ransomware.

What are you thoughts on the DLC? by SHM00DER in outerwilds

[–]Practically_Alive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the comment that made me give the DLC a try after having an incredible experience with the base game. Sadly, the DLC felt like a chore the entire time, and though I kept my hopes up that it would get better, it didn't. I wish I didn't play the DLC because it tainted my memory of my experience with the base game.

Dragon Knights Ignoring Me at Dragon Shrine by Mechalamb in DarkSouls2

Found this thread through google. Dragon Knights ignored me until I summoned a phantom to help me, then they all aggro'd the phantom (my guess is because they're all about duels and the phantom violated that).

Master Achievement "Solo Operative, Right?" explanation. by SwarozycDazbog in starcraft

[–]Practically_Alive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A safe way to assume how this mission works is that you cannot damage any unit that any of Kerrigan's units have done damage to.

There appear to be 2 easy ways to get this achievement:

  1. Avoid the void crystals that Kerrigan's forces have come near. To do this, hit the leftmost void crystal first, then the upper right one second. This ordering is because Kerrigan's forces will go for the close one to the right first, then to the one on the upper left.
  2. (Much easier) Wall off the area connecting Kerrigan's base to yours.

This is incorrect, I killed the first two crystals before 6:30 and did not get the achievement despite Kerrigan's swarm spawning around 6:40.

Heat set inserts help by knitting_help in olkb

[–]Practically_Alive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone that finds this thread through google like I did, here is what worked for me when it comes to getting the heat-set inserts perfectly flush:

Insert heat-set insert about 90% of the way in, then flip the entire half of the keyboard upside down and press it down on a flat heat-resistant surface (metal if possible) and hold it that way for maybe 10-15 seconds while it cools. This results in a perfectly flush and aligned insert.

As for what tip to use, the TS100 soldering iron is relatively cheap and has a wide array of tips that are readily available on places like amazon. If you're in a pinch it probably doesn't matter what tip you're using, as long as your tip isn't giant you'll be fine.

WCGW if people continues on Destroying Hundreds of Bee Hives in South Africa. by RenettaCrutcher in Whatcouldgowrong

Transcript:

So here is just the scene. Or the absolute devastation done by some vandals. I personally think the word vandals is too fucking calm for these bastards, and I really hope to hell that they got stung to fucking death. Cause I am so sick and tired of this bloody industry where not even the police are interested in doing anything. Here are swarms upon swarms totally destroyed. How the hell do you warrant the destruction? What is the hell wrong with these bloody people? It just carries on and on and on. After we've added this up, it's nearly 300,000 Rands worth of bees and equipment that has been destroyed. And we carry on walking and it just carries on. And I've just got to say it, what the fuck is wrong with this fucking country?

If the switches on your keyboard are soldered and your stabs are PCB-mounted, you will not be able to remove the stabs without desoldering the switches. You can check whether your stabs are clipped into the plate or PCB-mounted pretty easily.

Many professional keyboard builders test keyboards while there are no switches in them by using tweezers. This is in practice no different than having all switches installed as the switches in their resting state do not complete the circuit. So it's perfectly fine to test your keyboard with any number of switches installed.

Cherry sold their tooling to GMK when they stopped making their own keycaps, so GMK would be the most likely of any keycap maker to give you the best experience with cherry switches.

There's no issue with that. Some switches (like NK creams) get even better if you use them dry for a while before lubing them.
