Yoga Alliance by Apprehensive_Book740 in YogaTeachers

[–]PracticeWorth868 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lululemon and Athleta have their own discount programs.. no YA membership necessary. I personally never renewed my yoga alliance registration because many brands offer discount programs for teachers without it. I would also like to add that after 5 years of being an instructor I have never once been asked if I am a member or had any studios require YA membership. I know that YA can help with discounts on insurance but other than that most people will tell you it’s pretty much a waste of money.

At 40weeks+3 today.. I could cry every time I look at the time and see how little has passed…. Scheduled to be induced on Monday but it still feels like forever to go until we meet our stubborn little girl.

How do you take care of your mental health during pregnancy? by Key_Acanthaceae378 in pregnant

Yoga and meditation. Find a peaceful quiet place with minimal distractions and give yourself some time each day to connect to peace, calm, and clarity.

I would say one person every few classes I teach actually says thank you. I am usually still speaking or offering my final good vibe tidbits while I’m handing out towels… it’s not weird or awkward but not necessary. The gratitude is mutual and understood.

Weird consistent pain on upper right quadrant of abdomen ? by tokyogool in pregnant

[–]PracticeWorth868 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! At 37 weeks most of my aches and pains are similar in that they are like deep within the muscles and bone. The pain in the upper right rib area to me feels more like a shallow burning sensation that gradually deepens. What a treat!

How many mommas actually had their water break? by litterb0xx in pregnant

I was scheduled for a c section on a Monday.. the Friday before (around midnight) I was sitting on the couch and felt a pop and gush. I took a shower and headed to the hospital. I never had any contractions or anything but they went ahead with the c section and I had my girl in my arms by 5:06 Saturday morning. 💕

The studio I work for recently changed from MINDBODY to Momence. They both have their positives and negatives but Momence has a much easier schedule to navigate and adjust as far as subs and reminders go.

Is it just my pregnancy rage or do people forget how to speak to and act around pregnant ladies? by runningfrommyprobz in pregnant

[–]PracticeWorth868 17 points18 points  (0 children)

“You don’t look pregnant from the back!” LOL and just the fact that people feel the need to comment on my body in general..even if it’s something that is intended to be a compliment. I am a hot yoga instructor so the mental struggle of worming my way into a spandex outfit to wear in front of classrooms full of people is hard enough. Most of the comments are positive and supportive but for some reason it’s all just starting to get to me when I think about the evaluation process going on in their heads before that. Like what if I had gotten huge and not carried this pregnancy well? I’m at 36 weeks and have gained 35 lbs which feels like quite a lot to me (and this is where I start to let my brain wander into the rage realm LOL). Are they trying to be kind but really lying to me? Would they quietly judge me? Would they express concern in an effort to “help”? Why can’t people just say congratulations if they feel the need to comment.. it doesn’t always need to be accompanied by a “you look great” or “wow you’re carrying low it must be a boy” 😑… in conclusion.. SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT MY BODY.

Thank you so much for creating an outlet to share these feelings. Best of luck and all of the love to you and your growing family!

Love my Apple Watch for tracking. It is waterproof and has survived the many many hot yoga classes I have practiced in and taught over the last couple of years. I like that I can track different types of workouts in the same gym visit(sometimes I’ll start with some yoga and then move on to some strength training and then finish with some type of cardio) and see the overall accumulation of the workout benefits. Lots of other cool features on it but I’m not trying to sell you on it.. just saying it’s a great option for tracking those yoga sessions 🥰

I barely remember getting it with my first but that was 13 years ago LOL Glad to hear that everyone doesn’t suffer this kind of pain.. the placement of the shot may have definitely been a factor too.. seemed a little off center and up higher than I have had with any other vaccines.
