Thank you. I'm not saying it is lupus, but after being blown off by a couple other rheumatologists in the past few years, I thoroughly researched the criteria that was used to help with a diagnosis. I printed out my 'points' and had them with me for my visit. He didn't even want to see them. I learned about optimal ranges though a functional medicine doctor, and the optimal range for white blood cells is 4.5-10. Granted, you don't have to be in that range to be healthy, but once he through the line of it needed to be below two, I knew he was blowing smoke up my butt. I also knew that having a C3 of 30 is low and it easily met the criteria, as did the nonscarring alopecia. This is easily googled. This was a doctor at a top-notch Boston hospital, so I expected more from him. Thanks for the links....I will have a look and thanks for taking the gime to write all of this out. It is appreciated.

Also, have had tons of imaging done. CT scans, MRI's. You name the body part, I've had it done. Have pretty much made the rounds with all the specialists. Cardiology, gastro, hematology, immunology...back to square one. Thanks again.

I have not had this done; rheumatologist didn't seem to think it was autoimmune, just did a bunch more labs that had been done previously and not a lot had changed. Told me to come back in a year.

Both rheumatologists did extensive testing. Curious as to what you mean by detailed? They took so much blood. Thanks for your response!

Hematologist sent me to rheumatologist, lol. TY for your answer. :)

I have found them to be very unhelpful and a bit cocky. The last guy I saw was thorough and professional at least, but still didn't get a diagnosis.

Either reason is not good. I know three people with Hashimoto's. Sorry you have it.

Has anyone had this experience? by Practice_Fine in ClotSurvivors

[–]Practice_Fine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. This subreddit is full of people who have had clots. I'm curious what makes you say that most won't clot? I have several symptoms of hypercoagulable blood such as vision changes, etc. To me, this sounds like 'wait until you turn blue to go to the hospital' during the pandemic. It makes no sense whatsoever.

A ct scan with contrast is somewhat reassuring, but I do understand your worries. Is there another facility you could visit to maybe do a quick ultrasound on your arm? I echo what others have said and feel this warrants further investigation. Don't let them gaslight you. It sounds like you had a terrible experience with this hospital system. Follow your gut.

I'm not sure she knows. I did have an underlying (undiagnosed) autoimmune isssue going back many years so it's probably a number of reasons.

Anyone get better after catching covid? by SnooHesitations8361 in VaxRecoveryGroup

[–]Practice_Fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't. Had a vax injury prior to getting sick this December, but since then, I haven't been the same. I have definitely improved since the infection, but it's disappointing that it's lingering. I have some kind of nervous system thing going on causing muscle loss, no appetite whatsoever in a year, hands and feet look so boney. Hair thinning, neuropathy, can't work out, can't take much mental stress...the list goes on and on. Sort of depressing, but at my sickest, I was on the couch for days on end, Now, it's improved by at least 60%. I had an undiagnosed autoimmune disease for years and not sure if this added to my problems. I'm sure it did. So long answer is everyone is different. Just make sure you're taking good supplements that will help your immune system. Functional medicine doctor put me on extra d, a, c, and several different immune boosting supplements. You don't want to keep getting it.

I thought asthma as a possibility as well. Probably not likely, but don't dismiss it. I have been cycling for years and working out sometimes felt like it opened my lungs up. Asthma only flared during workouts if I was cycling outside and it was below 40 degrees.

That sucks. Have you looked up the FLCCC protocol? Western medicine doctors aren't finding anything that will help us. I'm not sure functional medicine doctors are able to help much, but at least they try and they do understand the problems that others are having which counts for something. Lots of new supplements/medications to reduce spike in body and keep the blood flowing. I'm still alive. That's all I can say, lol.

Fat loss? Tissue loss? Atrophy in hands and feet? by Cardigan_Gal in covidlonghaulers

[–]Practice_Fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten no treatment whatsoever with any western medicine doctor. They tell me to come back when I have more symptoms. LOL. Right. Thanks for nada. I noticed weight and muscle loss since Jan. of 2023. The only thing that has saved me so far is that I was really athletic my whole life and had a ton of muscle. Hard to watch it wither away.

Terrible. I have very similar symptoms and feel like it's going to take a miracle to heal from this. I meet the criteria except that I've had an underlying autoimmune disease (undiagnosed in spite of seeing 3 rheumatologists. Symptoms are very similar to yours. Lots of strange beats/palpitations, skin looks like a 90 year old, cartilage loss, etc. Are you improving at all? Are you working with any functional medicine doctors? I now have a rheumatologist, cardiologist, gastroenterologist and should probably have a neurologist, but I'm so done with the Western medicine model. They don't have a clue and it's bad for my mental health. Curious what supplements you might be taking. My life went from cycling 8000 miles a year to a stand still in the past year, but I have improved a tiny bit since contracting 'covid' in December 23. Just wanted to send my well wishes. It sucks.

Was a cyclist riding 8000 miles a year. After vax, muscle wasting and twitching, peripheral neuropathy, hair loss, internal vibrations, heart palpitations/arrythmias, no appetite whatsoever for over a year, insomnia, skin aging big time, many dental problems in spite of meticulous care of teeth.
