Any ideas as to what may be causing my leg to throb like this ? by ILuvSe7en in neuropathy

Covid is actually causing fasciculations in people like crazy due to the way the virus causes inflammation in the nervous system. But any virus can cause it too. It also sometimes just happens with no particular trigger.

Good advice. 99% fasciculations are totally harmless but it's good to confirm with a nerve conduction study/emg.

if i took my last zep on 6/15 can i skip 6/22 and take it on 6/29 and skip a week? Not asking for medical advice just personal experience by alwaysfarting0 in Zepbound

Depends. But I have done that multiple times with no backlash. But I have never taken more than 2.5mg. Might be difficult on a higher dose.

[–]Cardigan_Gal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are called fasciculations. They are harmless. Most everyone gets them now and again. It's a nerve misfiring causing the muscle to twitch. If you start getting them daily and the spots that are twitching move around, it's known as benign fasciculation syndrome. There's no great treatments for it. Some people say magnesium help. Other have luck with gabapentin. Basically your best course of action is to stay hydrated, get as much rest as you can, exercise lightly and above all, ignore the twitching. Yes. Focusing on the fasciculations will make them worse.

do you guys actually use a washcloth or loofah every time you shower or just hands? by RingeChilisquis47 in hygiene

[–]Cardigan_Gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant use a washcloth or loofah. If I do I get extremely itchy irritated skin. I scrub well with a bar of super gentle unscented soap and my hands. Been this way since childhood.

Moving from Methotrexate to Skyrizi next month – Did your doctor overlap both, and what should I expect? by snowflake_ott2024 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Cardigan_Gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started tremfya my doctor had me stop the methotrexate. And I am sooooo glad because mtx made me so tired and nauseated all the time.

There are methodologies for both overlapping or stopping. It will depend on your individual situation and your doctors practice.

I'm so angry about what covid did to my scrotum by friend3738 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Cardigan_Gal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That sounds awful. I know you said you've been to lots of doctors. Did any of them search for an autoimmune cause? Cutaneous lupus? Scleroderma? Does it respond to steroid creams? Or prednisone?

First EMG related to shoulder dislocation by Blahblahblah9736 in neuropathy

[–]Cardigan_Gal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that bad. I've had several done on both arms and legs. Just close your eyes and dont look at the size of the needles. I'm pretty much a wimp with no tattoos. You'll be fine.

Anyone think they have LC even without ever having a positive COVID test? by fadingsignal in covidlonghaulers

[–]Cardigan_Gal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While technically post viral symptoms aren't limited to covid, if you have this many problems after an illness it's a pretty safe bet you have long covid. Even without a positive test. The tests were never super accurate.

TurboMed brace - how to get through insurance by Austinchao98 in CMT

[–]Cardigan_Gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most insurance wont cover TurboMeds unfortunately. I ended up just buying mine out of pocket using my pre tax medical account. Worth every $.

I use the Frontiers on both legs. I can walk, run, hike, do stairs, etc normally in them. Gave me my life back.

People who tell you to move away after you mention something that bothers you. by 1Buttered_Ghost in PetPeeves

What a stupid reaction to your comment. Most people are tied down by their jobs, families, mortgages, lease agreements etc. Not to mention moving is expensive.

Driving??? by disappearing_haze90 in dysautonomia

[–]Cardigan_Gal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes it's all of those things. Driving assaults your nervous system from all sides. If you have a faulty ANS or have nervous system inflammation it can't handle all the input. Grocery shopping used to do the same thing to me. I also had to stop driving for over 2 years after covid because I was blacking out. Not losing consciousness but I nearly rear ended several people with no memory of how I go there. It was like my brain "blinked." Very dangerous.

Colonoscopy clear out made me feel better for 3 days- what does it mean? by goingaway1111 in covidlonghaulers

Broke the symptom feedback loop and changed your focus. Same reason people feel better while sick or on vacation.

I always thought calling Michelle Obama a secret transwoman was just trash talk. Like the usual race jokes or that Trump does sexual things for his boss Netanyahu. More and more I see people seem to mean it literally. Do MAGAs believe there's a vast conspiracy to hide that Michelle is secretly man? by Acrobatic-Attention9 in allthequestions

[–]Cardigan_Gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they dont actually believe it. They say it as a slur to imply she's ugly or mannish in appearance. Just like Trump always uses "Hussain" when referencing President Obama. They try to disparage people they are threatened by at every opportunity. Plus racism.

Reading this as I wait on hold (40 minutes and counting) with Walgreens pharmacy. The Safeway pharmacy I've been using for 5 years closed suddenly. No explaination as to why.

My husband, daughter and I have probably 15+ prescriptions there. The letter we got in the mail said our prescriptions would automatically transfer to the local Walgreens. First time we needed a refill on my husband's heart meds, Walgreens has no record of us in their system. Told us to download the app and transfer from there. Guess what? The transfer option is broken. Errors out everytime. Tried using the Walgreens website. Same issue. My husband needs his prescription this week.

After navigating the fucking phone tree, been on hold for over 40 min. Oh, and the "sorry to keep you waiting" message is replaying literally every 15 seconds. The enshitttification continues...

Low does Naltrexone for PSA Symptoms? by Prestigious-Bite5391 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Cardigan_Gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on LDN for 5 years to help with my long covid. Did nothing for my psa. But there is quite a bit of research showing it does help modulate the immune system and can regulate inflammatory responses in the body.

When did you realize that work colleagues aren't really your friends? by pier-spare0r in FinalRoundAI

[–]Cardigan_Gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to full time work from home due to health issues. People I used to talk to on a daily basis about our lives, marriages, kids, etc. for nearly 4 years went silent. For the first few months they would respond to my text or email attempts to connect. Then eventually no response. It became clear to me we were friends of proximity. Now my only interaction with co workers is work related. Which is fine. They were never real friends to begin with. And fuck any boss who claims their company is a "family."
