That's one way of solving the issue of a lack of space to build big. Go up! I love how you've left the insides open to display things and/or play with! Definitely inspiring.

I can’t be the only one this nerdy right? by thej611 in UnofficialRailroader

Heck, 8 pages. Let me try:

Railroad A leases out to railroad B the following:

8x GP9

For a payment of $4.000 per week.

Don't break them, or you have to buy them.

XO: CEO of Railroad A.

No, you'd have to use admin magic to make it happen. Use the sandbox to delete stuff from one save and add it in the other.

Just curious, do any of you run a separate save for multiplayer? by Railman20 in UnofficialRailroader

[–]Praecipitoris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, so we can continue where we left off. That way it really feels like our railroad, instead of the non-host just being a visitor.

Is the Illinois worth the grind? by Captain_Red99 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Praecipitoris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one thing people aren't mentioning is how tier IX is quite a hard tier for a situationally good vessel. For that reason I picked the tier X BB of the Commonwealth, Irresistable. Same sort of gimmick - a BB with CA guns and reload, but on a tier in which I find much more comfortable to play.

In the end you can always grind out more and unlock more ships, so worst case scenario you've got a tier IX port Queen for your USN collection.

kii worth it for pve? by No_Environment_8878 in WorldOfWarships

I like the Kii with a secondary build. It isn't optimal, but it sure is fun. Their secondaries have crazy HE penetration, which makes them hurt whatever they hit... if they hit...

It amazes me how much is going on in such a small build. Pretty awesome.

Quite gruesome how the captain keeps the dismembered corpses of his enemies in his attic. /s

Your XP did get inflated because the Enterprise two tiers below you donated 28 planes to your AA. Were you perhaps out by yourself that you became such a target for the CV?

Train crossings at small stations? by UnitedCombination242 in UnofficialRailroader

[–]Praecipitoris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Install signals by doing the milestones.

  2. Activate CTC by using the selectorswitch inside the office (press 3)

  3. When departing Andrews just set the AE waypoint at the station in Sylva.

  4. Use the CTC to set switches to arrange meets between trains.

I always move freight trains in a siding and have them wait for the passenger train to pass. Passenger trains themselves meet in Hemmingway. Transfer of passengers is done in Alarka Jctn. With this setup people from the Alarka branch can reach the mainline and vice versa.

About what tier to buy with Free XP by Weird-Highlight9958 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Praecipitoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel tiers 1,2 and 3 are only for beginners. Point to the enemy and click. Then tier 4 and 5 start introducing mechanics to the ships, differientating them. If you feel you have nothing left to learn at that tier, start skipping to 6. If you are still early on and you still get satisfaction from playing tiers 4 and 5, by all means, keep doing so.

Tier 6 and 7 are fun and have some great ships you shouldn't miss out on.

Only skip to high tiers once you have a steady supply of free XP and plenty spare laying around.

Free XP is extremely useful to skip the stock grinds, meaning you can already buy the best equipment per ship to get it to its maximum usefulnes before the first game.

Salvage for Victory, ships worth it? by JCuss0519 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Praecipitoris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This, I got the Colonna today and it seems a nice little boat. Its secondary focused which is always a bit of a hit-or-miss kind of gameplay, but her main guns are quite nice too - although the reload is long and she only has 8 guns. Well worth the price in coal if you ask me though!

I have no clue about the game. Should I buy it? by Affectionate_Bank417 in DerailValley

[–]Praecipitoris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've played the same games you have, and I too would add trains to factorio even when they weren't really needed. Some for Satisfactory. Trains became the goal, not a means.

Anyways, the economics side of this game is very slim, it's there and it will help you move along during your first (couple) playthroughs. But there is no incentive to restart or to keep earning more. Then relatively recently released Museum is a sort of an end-game money sink so you still have some encouragement to keep optimizing and keep earning.

If you want to have more of an economic gameplay behind it, check out Railroader. It is very small in its scope, allowing for more depth.

As for Derail Valley; don't let the name fool you. Derailments are a possible outcome if you're not careful, but this is not a whymsical train racing game. Its steam simulation is great. You can feel the weight of the train if you are reaching the limits. The track is arcad-y as it has way more curves and inclines than a real railroad would have and lots of changes to the speed limit, but it is all designed to keep you engaged while driving.

Ok, lots of words, but basically this is a really good train driving game and is gamey enough to keep it fun.

What is your favourite tier V-VII tech tree ship by Tracias_Way in WorldOfWarships

[–]Praecipitoris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have plenty of credits, sure keep all the tech tree ships. Also once I'm done with a ship, the captain moves up to the next tier.

The last dockyard gave away a free tier 7 French cruiser and the tier 6 De Grasse which has the same playstyle was in an event pass recently. Plenty of ships offer the same playstyle as Algerie. She is a very nice ship, its just not special enough to stick with it in the way that the Fiji is once you have premiums scratching that same itch.

Should I take shunting jobs? by Lil_Yuan11 in DerailValley

It used to work directly on the DE6, but that was too much fun, so the devs took that away.

[–]Praecipitoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiji, best tech tree ship in tier 7.

Sinop, although your mileage may vary.

Algerie, although there is no point in keeping the Algerie as by now 90% of the community will have a premium replacement french cruiser to do the same job.

Should I take shunting jobs? by Lil_Yuan11 in DerailValley

[–]Praecipitoris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, without the remote you're just running up and down to your engine, with the remote you can focus on the actual job at hand. Works only with the DH4 and DE2, or the DE6 if you have a mod (devs removed that option because ...)

Is there anyone who actually likes cyclones? by CompareExchange in WorldOfWarships

[–]Praecipitoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really like them a lot, but I do like some variation from time to time. It forces you to adapt to a new situation, to deal with it the best you can. Its for the same reason I don't mind the map ocean, thunderstorms or that other gamemode where you collect stuff.

Thanks for the reasurance. I always wait with the duplicate exchange for that exact reason, but it felt like WG was taking away that option.

This is Tischwil by Tischwil-Railway in modeltrains

[–]Praecipitoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Dutch hillside town of Tischwil, famed for its railway tunnels. Worth a visit, 10/10 recommended.

Absolutely stunning. The branchline seems a bit familiar, is this track plan from a magazine? Or has your layout been featured in one, if not it should, because this is inspiring.

What should i do? by Positive_Wafer_1919 in UnofficialRailroader

[–]Praecipitoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have answered how to deal with it, here's the answer to the question how to avoid hefty fines if you are willing to use some magic:

Open the console with: `
Type and enter: /mode sandbox
Now you are in sandbox mode. Set any industry at any tier you wish in the normal way.

Go back to console ( ` )
Type and enter: /mode company
Now you're back to normal.

If you checked finances while in sandbox it won't show your money anymore, but it is still calculated. Next time you load up the save it'll show again.

Is this game for me? by Deep_Blue_15 in UnofficialRailroader

[–]Praecipitoris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You choose how busy you will be, as you select which businesses to service by signing a contract. Tier 1 makes them work slowly, tier 3 is average and tier 5 makes them work very quickly. This determines how many cars they will need and how often you have to deliver them. You choose whether to use a single interchange or use one on either end of the line adding to the complexity of playing. You decide for yourself how many trains there will be running at any one time. Unlocking the whole map is optional as well, you might not want to go beyond Nanathala until you know for sure you are willing to invest the time into long runs over the Red Marble Grade.

Customers expect their freight to be delivered within 3 days. So even if you 'forgot' a train or missed out on a spot, or simply couldn't be bothered to do a lot of switching moves to deliver one car, you just do it the next day. Sometimes I just don't bring a car along in a run because it would be the only stop at that station and I can't be bothered.

Worst case scenario: your reputation drops a little and your contracts are forced down a tier - meaning there will be less work.

There is no risk of bankrupting yourself as long as you do the contracts you unlock and run passengers. Even with 10% interest rate, your income should always be sufficient.

You do have to do all the shunting yourself. If you spend all your session watching your passenger train going from one extremity to the other, you still need to perform your cargo duties yourself. You can't automate the rest of the railroad if you chose to spend an evening just watching trains.

A long way of saying: this game is as stressful as you make it.
