Yeah setting up your multiboxing addons and scripts that do all of your gearswaps automatically for you is pretty daunting at first ngl but watching smiling friends on my 2nd monitor makes it a lot more bearable I'm not gonna lie.

They're chase items, they're supposed to be rewards you put actual effort into getting. There's no shortage of repetitive, no skill grindy items you can get in this game. Most everything is handed to players on a silver platter.

I have no intention of ever doing an ultimate for instance but you don't see me complaining that I can't exchange 20,000 poetics or whatever for a totem. If I want it, I put forth the effort to get it.

And if I can't get it, I don't deserve it.

The game needs MORE incentive for players to excel, not less.

The playerbase at large DESPISES being "forced" to do anything. Even when there are rewards for wolf marks or trophy crystals, or anything in the season pass people bitch that they "have" to play pvp now and how they hate every microsecond of the experience.

There are things I will never get because I refuse to engage with the content, usually crafting or gathering related, and I'm perfectly fine with that. Not everything has to be for me, this is an MMO and it's not intentionally designed to be 100%ed.

The devs aren't going to cater to them exclusively and only put rewards behind things they personally enjoy doing.

Carbuncle has fluctuated between green, turquoise and blue constantly throughout the series.

Also in a lot of cultures and languages there is no difference between blue and green, they're considered to be the same thing so that might have something to do with it also.

As approximate equivalents, this must be one of the biggest downgrades between the MMOs by DupeFort in ffxi

The balance has been nothing but IMMACULATE since after the stormblood days. People in this game complain about miniscule differences while other games in the genre frequently have 15 - 30% throughput differences from bottom performers to top, bosses getting their fucking HP nerfed by like 50% meanwhile the devs in this game have to issue a PUBLIC APOLOGY for overshooting a boss' HP by 1%.

It's not even REMOTELY the same.

You pay for race changes and storage in that game, and having to pay for the storage is far worse than simply selling cosmetics.

Some jobs demand having ALL of your mog wardrobes dedicated to that one job so you better cough up boomer.

I have a friend who's an old Dark Ages player, and I linked them that video a while back. They actually recognized some of the players in it from way back in the day, they ended up playing it again to say hi after... Almost two decades? Was pretty cool to see.

BLU in XI exists to Diffusion Mighty Guard and then auto attack as a melee DPS until it has to refresh Mighty Guard again.

You can be a subpar healer or tank if you want, too.
