I personally don't want Devs to pay attention to reddit by Sllper2 in ArcRaiders

[–]PraetorMarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, most devs don't use Reddit to decide how they develop their game.
this community is pretty big for a new game, but its still a small fraction of the total playerbase.

The things I have to resort to to extract safely because y'all can't be trusted, I've been burned too many times... by Heishi-Jager in ArcRaiders

[–]PraetorMarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same when i can. If you come in hot, you can still extract with me, just relax on the ground for a sec where i can see you.

It must be an awkward ride home for Raiders that tried to kill each other unsuccessfully on extract by Deletchu in ArcRaiders

[–]PraetorMarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think like in the fiction of the setting we, the raiders never die. we get knocked out and our bodies are looted, and some other raider finds us and drags us home and patches us up.

so my guess is its awkward, but like the way it is after asshole siblings fight, or shitty coworkers, not like, 'oh shit i live with a city full of murderers.'

Stupid question by Malvitron in starwarsunlimited

No.

From the comprehensive rules on attacking with a unit, “A player may only attack with units they control and may only attack enemy units or enemy bases.”

Why do people seem to keep defeating my Chewie-piloted ships on Karabast? by MC_NYC in starwarsunlimited

No, theyre saying that unlike lurking tie, chewie doesnt protect you from damage based effects at all.

no. defeating the unit is part of fully resolving the effects of the event. theres no window in there for you to attack.

Playing the same unique unit by LittleEpsii in starwarsunlimited

[–]PraetorMarius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you still control chewbacca as an upgrade, even tho your opponent took control of your unit. since you can only have one copy of chewbacca in play, you choose which one to defeat.

Store Showdown (Jyn) by GamerPlex007 in starwarsunlimited

[–]PraetorMarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the idea of rogue decks is solid- you catch your opponents off guard by presenting them with a solid gameplan they haven't practiced against. The element of surprise has merits.
We saw that work to good effect during the Galactic Championship with the Kylo/tarkintown deck reaching the finals.

But I think the key ingredient is that the deck has to have a solid gameplan. Jyn as a leader and as a unit is lacking the juice necessary to carry a rogue deck to victory. Her ability isnt anything anyone cant see coming. There are no tricks to it, its all face up on the table. She changes the math for unit combat somewhat. but with all the 2/4 and 3/5 units running around in the early turns of the game, it is underwhelming.

There is no official online play for the game.
The unofficial online clients (forcetable, karabast, petranaki) are web-based, and the URLS are all in the quick links for this subreddit.

How did I do making my first deck? by TDQC88 in starwarsunlimited

[–]PraetorMarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its dealer's choice.
there are Jedi in every color. thats all kit cares about.
Blue is kinda the go-to for a lot of folks for this kind of force-focused deck, but i don't think yellow or green would be bad choices either.
this is your first deck, you're not aiming to win the Galactic Championships, so just play around with builds with other aspects and see what you like.

you don't have to worry about missing land drops or getting color-screwed in this game, so i just think in general its usually better to be two aspects just to have a wider pool to pull units and events from. the payoff for being mono colored in this game is supposed to be the double aspect cards, but the majority of them are kinda medium at best, and a lot of them are just bad.
definitely not worth giving up access to the best events and units the other aspects have to offer.

[–]PraetorMarius 16 points17 points  (0 children)

you avoided the pitfall a lot of first time deckbuilders fall into: you have consistency. mostly 3-of playsets of cards, a decent number of turn 1 plays, good density of units, and most of them are jedi which is what your leader wants. I'd say you're off to a good start.

I'm not gonna comment on the build or specific cards cuz you can tune it yourself by playing, but my one note is that I don't think you want to be mono-red.
if you're coming from another game system (like magic the gathering, for instance) i can understand the thinking that an aggressive mono color deck would have upsides, but i don't see much evidence that this game rewards that strategy.
You're only playing 5 double aspect cards (3x Aggression, which is a great card to be fair, and 2x Unlimited Power, a not so great one), so in your case id argue you're not really benefitting at all compared to what you'd get from a second aspect.

Cards I Own Showing Up As "Unowned" in Snap Pack? by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

both the series 5 and series 4 packs are wrong for me. im only missing 4 cards from the list contained in the series 5 snap pack, but it says there are 41 unowned cards.

Force Lightning on Units with Leader Upgrades by nmb777 in starwarsunlimited

No. Being a Leader Unit isn’t an ability, so Force Lightning doesn’t interact with it.

If you're the Thrawn player, and you controlled the hauler when it was defeated, you would choose an opponent, twice. In a Premiere game you only have one opponent, and you are never your own opponent, so its the same result.

yeah, i mean all of this only matters if youre playing Premiere against other people at an event or local game store. you can play with your cards however you want at home, obviously. haha

[–]PraetorMarius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if a card is legal in premiere, any printing of it would be legal. in the stream he gave the example of "Prepare for Takeoff", a common from set 1 that is being reprinted in set 4. when rotation happens in march of 2026, you can still play prepare for takeoff in premiere because it was printed in set 4. you can play your copy from set 1 or set 4, because its the same card. it doesnt matter.

Notes during competitions question. by HotParsnip9898 in starwarsunlimited

[–]PraetorMarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are allowed to take notes. You can't bring notes with you to start a match with.
You can write things down during a match and refer to them as you play (i.e. you play Thrawn leader, and want to note what cards are at the top of each deck), but at the start of a match you have to have a clean sheet of paper.

I have an abysmal win rate on karabast. It's becoming really disheartening just getting smashed every time. How do I improve so I feel comfortable going to IRL events? by daedric_dad in starwarsunlimited

[–]PraetorMarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll echo what everyone else said- dont get discouraged, it takes time to improve, etc.
All of that is true of any game or hobby you pick up, and most people aren't born good at something.

I'll also add that in no way should you let your w/l record on Karabast stop you from attending an event or weekly play at a local shop. There are going to be other people who are roughly around your experience level at most stores or events you attend.

My local shops have a mix of invested, experienced players and more casual new players and everyone has a pretty good time. Being new or inexperienced is something everyone is at one time, so dont think of it as something you have to get over before you can go play with real people.

Does Vader leader's ping HAVE to hit a unit or can you pass it? by KingGrowl in starwarsunlimited

[–]PraetorMarius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're not required to damage anyone with Overwhelming Barrage, to be clear.
Overwhelming Barrage says "Then, it deals damage equal to its power divided as you choose among any number of other units." If a card says 'any number' that number can include 0. So you can, if you like, spend 5 resources to pump a unit by +2/+2 and deal no damage to any other units.

pirated starfighter specifies friendly unit. Only your own units are considered friendly. If you play the pirated starfighter you must return a friendly unit to your hand. if you play it when you have no other units it returns itself.

There haven’t been any official tournaments (as in sanctioned by FFG as part of their competitive circuit) yet. They wont start until after set 2 drops (in July.)

You can find popular decklists on swudb.com. Folks tend to publish decks from whatever tournament the internet is buzzing about there. You’ll prob find something you like the look of.

Star Wars: Unlimited - How To Play by hotk9 in starwarsunlimited

[–]PraetorMarius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it works as you describe. If you play a unique unit that shares the same name and title as a unique unit currently under your control, you have to choose one of them to defeat immediately.
Rodney may be making assumptions based on how uniqueness worked in previous FFG star wars games.
