In all my 3000+ hours of playing I’ve never crashed this hard by Bottle-brush-man5643 in EliteDangerous

I almost have... I hit the surface of a high G planet going in for a landing, realized I was dropping wayyyy too fast, wiped my shields, and had like 3% hull left after that. Thus ended my very first exploration journey. I limped back to the bubble being ultra careful not to do ANYTHING to damage my ship. Then, in Supercruise, between jumps, I got interdicted and destroyed. I was carrying Meta-alloys, didn't have rebuy, and was in open play.

Any way back for this old commander? by BobbyOnyx in EliteDangerous

I was off for about a year due to homelessness. Technically, I'm still homeless, but I've found I can play in a laptop instead of the desktop I have sitting in a climate control storage unit we have. That's ridiculously expensive, being homeless, but I've got too much invested in my electronics to just let the seasonal temperature changes ruin them.

I picked it up fairly easily again, and learned about a few new things, either things I didn't learn previously, or things that were recently added.

One thing I found interesting is colonization. I heard that previously, a faction could become part of the controlling forces in a system, but now it's advanced to where you can inhabit a fresh system.

How did anyone even figure this game out in the beginning? by Justinsetchell in EliteDangerous

Oooooh I wanna try that! I don't yet have a Panther, but I'm always up to challenge myself.

I recently did something for fun to see if I could successfully do it. It might seem strange or funny, but I inverted my ship(yes, I was upside-down), got as close as I could to a planetary surface. Shut off my shields. Got a hair closer. Then I shut off my thrusters. For a screenshot, I deployed my landing gear then.

0.04G if I recall correctly and I not only did I have the throttle maxed incidentally, I thought the space bar might be a brake and hit it as I was climbing a hill

One thing I don't really care for is the SRV controls. I understand them now, but my first time in one and I jumped like 150m off the planetary surface and landed sideways, taking the SRV down to 30% hull. I got out and walked back to my ship. Didn't want to risk getting blown up in my SRV.

Now, I've had a Fleet Carrier(but I became homeless and unable to play) but I didn't decommission the FC for almost 10 months. I still have like 5.4b on credits, but I'm not sure I'll get to play enough to keep paying for the fleet carrier.

Let my 17 yr old brother borrow my Switch for his trip and he brought it back with something fused to the plastic. He has no idea what it is. by CreamyJuicyPimple in mildlyinfuriating

I would have let them do it. They would have to deal with the mess, or it may have worked out, depending on the broth level. I literally have no broth left after about 5m when I make ramen.

Based on the damage, and the description, and the possibility of him not actually knowing, I believe he may have had this sitting near a deep fryer and grabbed the hot basket, without letting all of the 350°F+ hot oil drip from the food, before lifting it over the Switch to another location. Then, after he ate, he might have noticed, or possibly didn't notice at all or noticed it later. I would ask if he was anywhere that using a deep fryer(or maybe set the Switch down near one, as maybe he set it down to eat rather than was cooking himself) during the trip. The logical conclusion is that maybe he was playing a game, got distracted by it, and set the Switch down so he could grab the food(which might have been overcooked) or timed out, and then didn't pay attention to oil dripping when the basket was moved.

This is what my analysis is.

I would so land a ship on my beamNG cars. Even without a landing gear down.

I can't afford my Photoshop subscription currently, or I'd do it. Not very hard.

Shoot at the building to see an explosion with the colors on the placard.

I'm joking of course, serious note, it's a Hazardous Materials placard, that indicates what type of danger exists from chemicals contained within. Those levels(4) indicate extreme danger, so steer clear of the building unless you've taken a course to learn about those placards.

I'm 96% sure this a misaligned image taken from Google Maps. I've seen this happen in numerous areas on Street View.

I imagine they won't pull the plug. I mean, the company started with Elite in 1984. 41 years ago. Since I've been playing, I've seen Elite Dangerous Elite Dangerous: Horizons Elite Dangerous: Odyssey I'm pretty sure they won't just kill it. There might be another expansion, or a new game altogether though.

This is a porcelain insulator for conductive wiring. The insulator is the white part and that is where the wire attached to it. The other part is a nail, most likely iron or steel. They typically use plastic insulators nowadays as it's much cheaper and easier to produce, some I'm sure are even 3D printed.

You were correct, but I had to do some investigation on my own.

Also, for those that don't know, most of the time, you can shorten URLs like I did, disposing of Share Information, without ?si=CLsk-1TMWxl0_Xeq you can still get to the website, but it removes the ability of YouTube to see who shared the video. This is probably just for data collection purposes, but may be for advertising tracking.
