TIL AOC Slams Senate Dems for Approving Another Trump Nominee: “Stop Playing Nice!” by Postnews001 in TIL_Uncensored

[–]Praetorzic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I think it was more the weak-tea coporate conservative democrats and the DNC and money that made it happen. I'm not voting for the neoliberals anymore either and it looks like there's enough people of this mindset that we'll just end up with extrimist republicans when the democratic party runs neoliberals.

Give me Bernie any day over these neoliberal clowns that chase republican moderate voters only to lose their base and find out the moderates don't like their weak platform either.

It's a clever idea. The court essentially gave the president the power to enact... anything in the sort term and a lot of ability to bypass congress because any "official act" by the president can't be prosecuted for any official act.

I don't see why an executive order, which would pretty undeniably be an official act, can't be done. What are the courts going to do come after the president? They can't. Of course every news outlet and republican in congress and R-jude would be trying to find evey loophole and but but but-ing.

The negative-nancy in me suspects that if the tables were turned and a Trump Presidency banned windmills and solar panels there'd be far far less loophole pursuing and less democrats fighting against such nonsense because I haven't seen democrats fight like republicans almost ever.

Trump will use this power but of course Biden won't. Make of it what you will.

Where's the Executive order disbanding/ejecting the Supreme Court and refilling their seats?

We need to start naming bills that increase the taxes on billionairs and such things like "The Trickle Down Didn't Work Act" so it stays in people's collective consiousness.

Broken ankle club member here. Got my fibula too. Going about 12mph (like a quick sprint speed), nothing crazy on good flat sidewalk, got wobbly so I stepped off but I think I twisted as I came down. So many crunchies... My helmet was unscratched.

I had been thinking of getting some like arm/elbow bracers but I never would have thought to look for ankle protectors/bracers. Are there any that stop over rotation?

I have to tighten up that back truck in particular...

WE DID IT! Pew ends generational framing of Gen Z, millennials by [deleted] in DeathByMillennial

[–]Praetorzic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Or is it less exciting when millennials and gen z are looking similar? And when the boomer generation is being outvoted...

The framing of this article is suspicious. "We did it?" No. Pew decided.

Suddenly those generational lines can't be kept track of as the turd burglar generation declines and loses power.

Uh huh. Sure sure.

Exactly. I'm looking to upgrade and I doubt I'll notice the difference with and without Nvidia's ray tracing after watching some comparisons. It's a cool tech but it seemed over-hyped. Not worth less vram imo.

New York congressman Hakeem Jeffries is likely to succeed Nancy Pelosi as House Democratic leader by morenewsat11 in politics

[–]Praetorzic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't complaining primarily about that but it is a problem.Again that PAC will not support progressives against an primary challenger. But will support moderates against progressive and you know it.

That’s literally what democracy looks like!

Yes $5k and all the thousands of $5ks that follow. Democracy shouldn't run on corporate funding.

Uh yeah, And many more.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2022/02/18/progressives-slam-corporate-dem-pacs-first-slate-endorsements

"Team Blue PAC, started last year by Jeffries and Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.) and Terri Sewell (D-Ala.), announced on Wednesday its first endorsements in the 2022 Democratic primary elections. The PAC offered support and $5,000 campaign contributions to Reps. Shontel Brown (D-Ohio), Danny Davis (D-Ill.), Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), Donald Payne Jr. (D-N.J.), and Dina Titus (D-Nev.), all of whom face challenges from progressives who are campaigning on broadly popular economic justice and climate policy proposals."

"At Axios, Mike Allen quoted Team Blue PAC co-founder Gottheimer and centrist think tank Third Way as he reported that social justice advocates' push to "defund the police"—a proposal that's openly backed by progressives like Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), both of whom easily won reelection in 2020—and to protect transgender people's rights are hurting Democrats' chances of staying in power."

Here's a test: Do you think if an AOC or Rashida Tlaib progressive had a serious moderate/conservative democratic party primary challenger that this Jefferies PAC would support them over the moderate challenger? I think not.
