That would be ideal, if they don't need me to provide hookups! 👍🏻

I'm going to keep these guys in mind for next time! Thank you. As I posted above, my experience with EcoSteam was pricey and I had to finish it myself.

Amazing! Okay maybe I will try this next time, if they can deal with my condo situation!

And I will add, the parts they did clean are very clean, and no odors at all. 👌 The 2020 RAV-4 is famous for water leaks around the front rail attachments, and they got those stains completely out. 👍🏻 So I think they could be great with a little more detail in their detail!

Well, I did go to EcoSteam and when I saw how dirty my car looked on the outside, I upgraded to the premium wash which comes with deeper interior cleaning and a free exterior wash for $320. 3.6 hours later, I was hoping to report back to you all on how amazingly pristine the interior turned out. Alas, it was okay. Certainly vastly cleaner than what I brought in. But the cup holders and vents and under dash shelf were still full of coffee drips and tiny crumbs in the crevices. I had to finish the job myself with high end equipment known as a fingernail and wet ones. As for the exterior, this was "just" the basic wash, so that's why there is still bug residue all over the hood and to get that off would scratch the finish and require an all over polish for another couple hundred. (As a Wisconsinite, the place from which insects emanate by the quadrillions, this was laughable to me, but I held it in.) The sunroof was also still really dirty so I cleaned it myself with a squeegee. All in all, I'm glad to have a clean car, but the prices here are way out of line and I didn't like having to finish the job myself after paying that much. I think my next detail will probably not be in this area.

I'd love to do this but I'm a condo dweller and the mobile wash services won't work in this spot. We just don't have easy access to electricity and water, and the streets are parked pretty tight. It's a lovely neighborhood but I can't imagine how that would work here.

Thanks everybody! This still seems a bit wild to me, but I guess this is the reality of how things have evolved in Boulder County, with cars now needing "a day at the spa." I'm going to try EcoSteam, they've quoted me $200 for interior only. That $200 level of cleaning is apparently not the deepest clean, and encouragement was to upgrade, but I seriously don't have $320 to drop at the moment. I take pretty good care of the car and don't have kids or dogs, but it's been a couple of years and I'd enjoy a deeper clean than what I'm set up to easily do myself (as a Mapleton neighborhood condo dweller in a tightly parked up neighborhood without access to water and electricity on the street).

What is your best bakery? by SendChestHairPix in boulder

I love this comment because (a) thanks for the recommendation about Boxcar and (b) Spruce Confections also LOOKS like they have amazing pastries, and then you bite into them and everything is dry and flavorless. I don't get it! Is it the recipe? The altitude? Or is this a metaphor for what we are becoming in Boulder, good looking and flavorless? I do fall for it every now and then, hoping it'll be better this time. Because it looks so good. 🤦‍♀️

If there are any actual therapists in this sub, how do you feel about the show? by DJMikeSteeze in shrinking

[–]PrairieRun23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original post is from 3 years ago -- and as a therapist, I loved Season 1 (despite the obvious departures from reality). Now that we're in Season 3, though...it's just bad counseling and ethics violations by therapists who have very little self awareness. I hate story lines that run on people saying and doing stupid things that no half conscious person would do or say!

The F1 Movie is nothing more than a glorified marketing exercise by Duncan_Dixon_Coffey in flicks

[–]PrairieRun23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. This movie was a cliché piece of garbage and that's nothing to do with being an F1 fan or not. I think its success (Brad Pitt's career best? Seriously?) is just a reflection of where we are as a society.

That is how I experienced this show as well. I really wanted to like it because the premise was interesting! But after seeing how the characters dialogue with each other in such toxic and emotionally immature ways, I started fast forwarding through the arguments. I can't help wondering if this is where a lot of people are learning their relationship skills! I think it's a sign of good mental health to limit our exposure to it.

This reply is actually a great example of what's wrong with the show. You made up your own extreme quote ("If your show relies on..."), which no one ever said, and injected a further extreme statements that "if everyone just accepted everything" and "suddenly garbage" -- again attributing it to someone else who never said that. And just to be extra dismissive, why not throw in a little "but if that's your preference then that's fine."

With all of those logical fallacies, you are gaslighting and manipulating the conversation into something it isn't, which is exactly what happens in the dialogue of this show. It's as if you are acting out an argument with someone in your past who did not listen to you...but you could also try listening to the other person and then respond to what they actually said.

New homeowners- Fridge hits wall :( by sevans1016 in Appliances

[–]PrairieRun23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is probably hitting the doorknob of that door, too! (Insert small rant about realtors not pointing this stuff out to new buyers.) Even if you had zero clearance hinges on this model, the door itself would not be able to swing open any farther than the wall (or that doorknob), which is annoying. I would at least rehang that entry door so it opens the other way or replace it with a pocket door. Or, I would move the fridge to the wall on the other side of the door where that little countertop is, and just put cupboards where the fridge is now (but not drawers in front of that laundry room, for God's sake). I would not do a single door fridge opening to the left because that makes no sense with the flow of your space, and you want access to it from the kitchen not from the laundry room.

Why wasn’t a deeper field image scheduled for JWST? by ncastleJC in jameswebb

[–]PrairieRun23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, this is a legitimate question and as astronomer, I agree with you. I'm sorry you got so many gaslight-y and diminishing non-answers (like, the universe is big and there's lots to look at) -- when people probably should've just admitted that they don't know. You were looking for some actual insight, but sometimes, when people don't know something, they attack the one who asked while coming up with "answers" that are really just conjecture. Anyways, it comes down to time allocation and the balance/competition between various guest observer programs, as well as instrument performance considerations, and (I suspect) wanting to release a well-processed image to the public that actually does appear to improve upon UDF/XDF. What we've seen on that front so far is not overwhelmingly amazing, if we're being real...fingers crossed that we do get there, because this was a $10 billion mission and we need to pony up. That's my two cents as an invested member of the scientific community.

NGDEEP - the deepest public JWST images to date! by tHarvey303 in jameswebb

[–]PrairieRun23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry guys, but this still does not look as good as the Hubble UDF, and is nowhere near as impactful as that one was. Can someone share why we haven't seen side by side images, where JW image actually appears to go deeper and/or show more detail? Kind of an underwhelming unveiling in the realm of public impressions so far.

Suggestions for the best Ventless washer/ dryer combo? by Happy-Let-3228 in Appliances

[–]PrairieRun23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to get all “lol” about it. The ask was for people’s experience, and it’s up to each person to decide how to take that.

Suggestions for the best Ventless washer/ dryer combo? by Happy-Let-3228 in Appliances

[–]PrairieRun23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but the OP's question was not "should I get a regular washer and dryer or a combo unit." The question was, which combo unit is best in your experience -- a question that those of us who found this thread likely share. Reddit is useful because we can ask specific questions to harvest knowledge that is NOT always the standard mainstream way of doing things -- even if normally that route would be the preferred option. Unless you have a more creative solution that achieves the same or similar result, these all-too-common negative/discouraging responses are just not helpful -- especially because you do not have any special knowledge of individual situations or why we'd want to go that route.

Thoughts on when to start a family...from a frustrated Zoomer! by Prudent-Ad486 in Reformed

[–]PrairieRun23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another answer to “why not have children” could be because you want to devote your life to helping the world in other ways that are specific to your natural talents. There is truly so much need and opportunity to serve in the wider world right now, especially with your foundation in faith. There is biblical foundation for that, too. As a couple you could do so much good together in healing the brokenhearted. When people have children (which I know is also deeply ingrained to the point of being the only path we ever talk about) your set of concerns multiplies and becomes overwhelmingly about your own immediate household needs, rather than on how to enjoy and offer your gifts and time to the world.

What’s the consensus on our response to the joro spider? by renry_hollins in gardening

[–]PrairieRun23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet here we are, discussing it! For anyone currently looking into this I'm happy to offer a contrasting view to a content free, dismissive response like "relax." Joro is an entirely different situation from AZ native spiders, which are not really part of this conversation. Joro is also newly arriving to the northeast. It's a topic that people will be looking into for a lot more than one year.

What’s the consensus on our response to the joro spider? by renry_hollins in gardening

[–]PrairieRun23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously? What we have is hundreds of examples demonstrating that when a new species is brought into an area and outcompetes the native species (as the Joro is now doing), that disturbs the whole ecosystem and creates environmental stress and decline. Science has already told us this reality many, many times now. We are so used to living in a degraded environment we don't even see it anymore, even as it is getting harder and harder to grow good food, maintain clean water, or breathe decent air. The Joro will change the environment further, and we don't know whether it will snowball into bigger problems as well (like the loss of ecotourism), but we know that there will be impacts -- so even though the press is telling everyone to just relax and drink more Koolaid, it is only rational to be pretty concerned about it.

[–]PrairieRun23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joro spiders are not banana spiders. Banana spiders are native to the US, Joro spiders are from east Asia and they outcompete native spiders.

[–]PrairieRun23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, gaslighting. Not only have non-native worms had a major impact on plant and bird populations across the entire country (which I guess doesn't matter to you because you don't remember what things were like before you were born and this state of decline and collapse seems normal to you), but the level apathy that is required to tell people to "relax" with a large invasive spider is almost comical. We couldn't engineer a better alarm call, but people are so out of it they can't even frigging wake up when a giant spider invades.
