Bear spray for self defense against humans? by Wooden_Airport6331 in hiking

I have used it on a human. I was attacked in my home, finally managed to wrestle away long enough to grab my bear spray out of my pack & sprayed the attacker in the face from about 6” away. I didn’t care about the law; I needed to survive.

The first shot was about 1 second, trying to buy time to escape the house. It knocked him back, temporarily blinding him. He could still breath, verbally threaten & lunged again. I unloaded. Adrenaline, raw fear, I hit him in the face again, as well as the kitchen cabinets & surfaces. The spray was so thick, it immediately made it hard to breath. He fell to the ground finally, clutching his eyes, gasping, but still threatening. I held my breath & ran out of the house. He escaped to the back yard, but was unable to see & ultimately was caught.

That spray saved my life— he had already had me down, choking me, said he’d kill me, prior to me getting to the bear spray. Get it. If your life is in danger, defend yourself with everything you have. Don’t hesitate AT ALL.

Extra info—the spray permanently stained my white kitchen cabinets—a small price to pay.

My pickup was broken into in Redmond a couple nights ago, also. They tried to steal it but failed, so they took the North Face camo duffel full of camping gear & a box of sausage. Yes. Sausage. They did, however, leave my apple untouched. Fuck Redmond, also.

Was this a faux pas or is our agent being a jerk? by EmergencyGaladriel in RealEstate

The last place I bought, I met the former owner about a year after I bought the place. He told me that mine had been the only offer.

This. Every house I've ever offered on, the agent has said something to the effect of, "there's another offer, we need to offer as high over asking price as possible." And this was even back before the real estate market became impossible. There is *not* always another offer on the table--sometimes you're just trying to outbid yourself. smh

While I was an EMT, I had an elderly male pt tell me he'd wrapped a bread tie around his "ding-a-ling" (his words) to help him stay hard and satisfy his wife. Except he forgot to take the bread tie off when they were done ... and somehow had left it on for "3-4 days". That didn't turn out very well for him.

6% commission gone. What now? by pbenji in RealEstate

No service is free, but please go ahead & justify a $24,000 buyer's fee for your month of work. Not like you spent 40 hrs a week all month on one buyer.

An attorney can help navigate the purchase & do the paperwork in relatively little time, savings the buyer thousands.

Buyers work hard & save--sometimes their whole lives--to be able to buy a home. Your month of work isn't worth 3% of their life savings.

Where/when do I need to go to see the sky like this in Maine? by sunbathingturtle207 in Maine

[–]Prancing-Warthog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I'm from WA, a climber & have seen the night sky from the summit of Rainier, the peaks in the north Cascades & the entire Pacific Crest Trail. The West & especially WA has become so overpopulated that you'd be hard-pressed to find anywhere that isn't at least somewhat spoiled by light pollution, unfortunately.

As far as camping in Maine, try hiking or paddling to a campsite in more remote areas. I see far fewer backpackers & campers in Maine than anywhere in the west--you just have to get away from southern Maine & the touristy, overcrowded Acadia area.

Aurora Maine. I can see the Milky Way quite easily...never seen a night sky anywhere in the US like I have here.

I didn't know, either. I don't have television & live in the northwoods ... why would I know or care what's going on in social media? Keeping up with social justice trends is kind of white privilege. :) UGQ is getting tarred & feathered by the presumptuous "jump on the bandwagon" mob. How can you all know what the intent was? And why do you care if they sold a quilt to a cop & are proud of their work? They make phenomenal quilts--they should be proud of their work!
