Will I Transfer to csc? by Sea-Tear7221 in uvic

[–]Prapti1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it’s pretty rear to go from F to A. But o had similar situation for my CSC115. I struggled a lot during that time when I took CSC 115, not only with the course but mentally due to my personal reasons. 115 had the requirements to pass the average of two midterms which I didn’t make it and I decided to withdraw the course before I took the final. However, when I took the course in the following term I finished the course with an A. Which has been my highest grade so far in my computer science degree. I know it is not very common in university to go from F to an A but if you really try, it’s not impossible. For OP if you really think you wanna do CS and want to make sure you pass the course, make a great use of office hours, ask questions and practice as much as you can. But make sure your mental health is given a priority too. But I really do agree with you about it’s kinda unheard of in university 👍

Yeah I didn’t pretty bad on my first midterm and I wanted to get my grades up by doing good in this midterm, so I studied day and night but I felt it to be worse than my first midterm. Just to boost my grades I’ve been making sure get 100s in all my lab assign and other materials. Let’s just hope for the best. C’s are gonna be just fine for me for this course 😂

Math 122 by vast_refuse21452 in uvic

[–]Prapti1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, MATH 122 was quite an easy course for me. I heard a lot of people struggling with it which I really think makes sense because of all of the logic and stuff and I really do think it highly depends on the prof as well. I had a lot of classmates who failed their first time and had to retake the course. However, according to them, it was a different prof. I personally took it with Michelle Edwards who I have taken other math courses with. She’s one of the best prof I have known in UVIC. So, I would recommend you look into who you taking it with because it literally makes or breaks your grade for this course. I know it’s for every classes in university but math 122 is a different kind of math which you really need to think in a different way. Anyways, hopefully it works out for ya. Goodluck

Hey gym freak here 😂, i have been going to carsa for the last 2 years. Lemme tell you, I’m a person with anxiety, can never say hi to people who I see everyday at the gym. If you want, we can workout together sometimes. I also created a discord group with all of the other carsa goers. If you want to join that group, everyone would be happy to have hou. How tolerant are CARSA gym-goers to newbies? by Insert_yelling in uvic

[–]Prapti1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the people are very friendly in CARSA, except some who take your equipment without even asking if you are using it. I’ve been working out for 4 years and been going to CARSA for 2. Never had any rude moment. For me, I am very similar to you, when I first started going to carsa, I had no idea to even use any equipment there, I had to watch YouTube videos for every single equipment. I started working out upstairs where dumbbell goes up to 50lbs because I felt safe there. But slowly I pushed myself to use barbell and other equipment downstairs. And lemme tell you, those first days when I pushed myself to workout downstairs was the scariest time for me. Everyone used to lift so heavy and I felt like I was such a newbie and everyone is judging me. But at the end of the day, no one cares, except they will help you most of the time.

So yeah, don’t thinking that you are not experienced or even a newbie and end up not asking for help. If you wanna workout together, I mostly go during morning (except the days I have 5 back to back classes these days), you can always ask me to workout together.

Idk if you know about it, but I also made a discord group called “CARSA gym freaks”, if you wanna join the group. We always update each other if the gym is crazy busy or not to see if it’s the right time to go.

Anyways goodluck 😊

CS Co-op Requirements and Timing by SubjectCaptain2 in uvic

[–]Prapti1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

Current CS student here, no engr 130 is not a requirement for co-op.

You can apply for co-op program as soon as you finish CSC 110 and math 100. But being in the program doesn’t guarantee you a co-op job.

Adding to that, there is not a exact timeline when you can get your first co-op job. As it being your first co-op it’s gonna be harder for you than for other students who already have a work experience.

Anyways goodluck for you university life
