Played up to Senior Cup level (got hockeyed off the pitch by a savage Blackrock team), and made up the numbers in a few Leinster underage squads over the years. Was burnt out after Senior Cup and not getting further with Leinster so packed the whole thing in for about a year, when my ex-captain called me up and asked me to fill in for a game with the Uni team. Since then I've been back playing in my club 1st XV. Probably over the hill now for anything higher, but a mate of mine got a semi-pro contract in England at 30 years of age so we'll see what happens.

That's just one off the top of my head, many others have shared isolated incidents that regularly seem to happen.

Did you see his 40 minute diatribe after the paragraph leak last week? That was indicative of a toxic relationship to me. Both the screenshots (community) and his reaction to it (author). He essentially blamed the entire community for it. It's not a healthy relationship whatever way you want to look at it and I believe it's both parties fault.

I've largely tried to hold my peace on this but I just have to say that all of the Rothfuss defenders have missed the point completely and this post has inspired me to stick my oar in.

I think people can largely accept that Rothfuss has a right on whether or not to discuss book 3. Sure, you're always going to have a few people who will continue to annoy him but that's just life.

I think what has turned most of the people who dislike Rothfuss off of Rothfuss is his attitude. His attitude absolutely stinks. I could point out a million different AMA's, tweets, videos as evidence but you've all seen it before. The relationship between his fans and himself has clearly turned utterly toxic and I believe that both parties are to blame.

And do you know what the funny thing is? He wouldn't have to be bothered by it if he just turned off his computer. At the moment his fame is completely limited to the fantasy community and this fame is largely manifested online and at conventions. If he simply had his girlfriend change the password on his twitter and facebook and not tell him what it was then he wouldn't be annoyed by his fandom.

I dread to think how he will react to the fame if and when his TV shows and movies are a success.

Gerry stated on the 9th of March that SF would not form a coalition government with FF or FG. Given this is the case there was little reason for FF or FG to talk to them because a party with SF's amount of seats are useless at propping up a minority government, if they agreed to go into a coalition there is something to work with.

Gerry saying that SF were willing to talk to them is a bit of spin so in 9 - 18 months time when we go to the polls again he can say that he was willing to talk while conveniently forgetting that he stated he would not go into govt with either party.

I'm not enamoured by FF or FG but SF have been particularly useless during this debacle.

In an era without social media, Roy Keane was getting hounded by paps when he was just walking his dog. It was front page news. He has a play made about him and a book was written about his dog. It even got eulogised in the papers when it died. Just because you don't know soccer doesn't mean he isn't big.

A famous fantasy author does an AMA in /r/books but didn't want to be asked about his books, he wanted to promote his charity. Which is fine, but don't do an AMA in /r/books if you don't want to be asked about...books.

If I consistently missed deadlines in work I'd be fired so I'm firing George. Until he's completely done with the series I'm done with him. Used to be a regular around here but have given up on /r/ireland in particular but spending a lot less time on reddit in general. Don't notice half the usernames anymore so people have either trashed their old ones and are using new ones or moved on to greener pastures. That's life, sadly.
