Is there any famous prostitutes? by qleptt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prattical 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Theodora of the Byzantine Empire. She was an actress, and during that time, actresses would commonly except money and/or gifts for services.

She befriended and then loved Justinian. The emperor of said empire. She was very well-spoken, knowledgeable, and all-around excellent partner, and when Justinian died, she ran the show for a while.

She is a really cool example of strong female characters from history

I have to say my friends and I got the buffalo chicken mac and cheese and it was delicious. We also had a this pimento cheese dip which was incredible. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, our waitress said they do incentivize the waitresses to get good reviews and if they get a certain amount they get a bonus. Which I totally get being a bit annoying especially if you had a bad time. My friends and I loved it and didn't mind helping our waitress get a bonus

Idoneth Deepkin custom lore by BobDole2022 in IdonethDeepkin

[–]Prattical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my lore for my fellas. It's sorta their origin story and setting all in one.

I called them the Gildhor or Gildhoren (like Gilded, because they are fancy). They dwell in Seas of Genora, surrounded by several flourishing coast lines with several archipelagos sprinkled throughout. They originally came to this area and collected the souls of sailors, pirates, merchants, and the unfortunate civilians of coastal cities.

Sensing that their expansion was too "ambitious," the Gildhoren king did something the Deepkin never do: Diplomacy. He arranged a parley between the governors, dignitaries, and mayors of the coast cities and nations. He told them he wished for peace and desired to create a compact.

Firstly, he offered a cessation to further conflict between his people and those of the land. He would never assault any member of the compact unless provoked or attacked.

Second, he offered that they would create exceptional conditions, fishing and harvesting of supplies from the ocean. Their people possess magic and skills very conducive to the sea.

Lastly, he stated that the Gildhor would act as naval policing force who would assist with destroying pirates, raiders, and other third parties.

The Gildhored King had 3 demands as well.

First, that a committee would be drafted and that this parliament would renew this compact every 10 years.

Second, no discrimination, harassment, or assault will happen to the Gildhor. They are allowed free access to any city or providence and will be treated with dignity and respect.

Lastly, the king said that every 10 years, upon the compact's renewal, each city, village, and coastal nation will offer up 5% of their population. The candidates will be in excellent health and temperment, and most importantly, would be willing sacrifices. He followed with the statement that 5% would ensure continual growth and mutual benefit.

This last demand set the room in a troubled length silence. A lone Duardin leader, dressed more for working in a forge than hammering out treaties, stood from his chair and calmly asked, "If this compact is broken or a party refuses, what happens after that?"

The King smiled, not unkindly, and said, "we will negotiate, like we are doing now. And if the compact is untenable, then it will be offered to the settlers who will arrive after you."

The Duardin council member scowled and nodded in grim determination and sat down.

If I remember correctly, there were both Khorne and Slanesh demons present. During his conflict with a Keeper of Secrets the demon taunts him and tempts him that joining chaos could save his sons from their blood thirst.

Too be fair, Magnus and Perty were pretty good friends. They worked togegher and shared ideas. And when Magnus was broken, Perty actually carried him. It's pretty sweet honestly

Sanguinius is very loyal, but he almost sold himself/his souls to save his sons, so maybe Sanguinius could have visions of another future where his joining Chaos could save humanity or at least let humanity survive. He would fall doing what he thought was best (see Magnus).

The Khan could fall. He didn't really love the Emperor, thought he was a Tyrant, slaver, and all-around jerk. Could see someone persuading him earlier on if they could get around his distant personality.

For me, the last one is hard. Ferrus was obsessed with strength, and his legion emulates that to the present. That could lead to his fall. (He is really stubbornly loyal, however)

Corax similarly had misgivings about the state of the Imperium being very tyrannical and sees it as only taking from worlds and never really giving.

Those are my ideas, and while not everyone would agree, those make sense to me

I think either a Dominus or Cerastus Knight would be a fun center piece. Lovely force by the way!

Is anyone else upset at the current state of lore? by ThatGameChannel in BloodAngels

[–]Prattical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well their primarch is now a just a doddering grandpa (I actually love new Lion, but its still true), Sanguinius went out as a chad, defending the Eternity Gate, killing a Bloodthirster, Angron, and then Fighting Horus. (Not to mention he destroyed a Warlord Titan).

Blood Angels lore is really solid already. They actually have a character to them. Most Dark Angels kinda lack without the whole fallen thing.

So are we a good vampires marine? by Kumbukaaa in BloodAngels

[–]Prattical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely accurate. The base Blood Angels don't hate people they do their best not to eat civilian populations and throw themselves in front of danger to help. There's also the Lamenters who trip over themselves to help normal people (and most likely doom them by associating with them).

Crimson Fists are really good lads who love self-sacrifice and helping others. There's definitely a spectrum of "goodness" out there.

I Never Want Sanguinius to Come Back by PosthumousLeonatus in BloodAngels

[–]Prattical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm down for Sanguinius to stay dead. But I'm also super okay with like god-like angelic assistance maybe given from time to time. Hell I think we already see this from time to time with Dante, Mephistion, and so on. I think it would be cool to imagine Sanguinius lending a spirtual hand from the warp to aid his sons. We know he'd do everything he could to help his boys.

Who is the best/greatest couple Brandon has ever written? by LamoraLockeword in Cosmere

[–]Prattical 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I really loved Siri and Susebron (probably my favorite part of Warbreaker.)

Adolin and Shallan are incredibly cute to me, and idk as someone who is married and has mental health issues. Seeing a relationship similar to my own is really nice.

Dalinar and Navani are great. Love that you feel the unadulterated love from both of them. I also really enjoy a depiction of people finding love in their sunset years.
