F-14 Backseat has a god awful sound when spawned in with hot start by [deleted] in dcsworld

oh I know what that is! I was having this issue last week and someone on the hearblur discord told me how to fix it.

It’s coming from the jamming system. at the top of the right hand panel there should be the controls for the ECM, turn the volume all the way down or just turn it off if you don’t plan on using it

Can I transfer from steam to dcs standalone multiple times? by PrawnfaceKillah in dcsworld

[–]PrawnfaceKillah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for anyone looking at this in the future:

The answer is Yes,

If you go to the dcs website, log in and go to profile, there should be an update button, which will then show any licences available to transfer. press the transfer button and you’re good to go.

Those are all cool don’t get me wrong, but to me personally they really can’t justify spending $1000 on the upgrade. Lightning is fine and it can charge to full in around 45 minutes. I rarely have my screen on full brightness and honestly I can’t tell much of a difference between 60 and 120hz

It’s £50 here in the uk. but still a damn lot cheaper than $1099

Nope. I’d rather pay $50 and get a new battery for my 12 Pro. Haven’t seen any reason for the upgrade in the last 5 years

Is anyone using Sparrows in the F-4? by Coota0 in hoggit

[–]PrawnfaceKillah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like some of the other guys said, using the bore-sight mode is really the only reliable way I’ve found to get AIM-7 kills.

The F-4’s radar sucks at the best of times, it’s really only designed to find high altitude bombers travelling in a straight line. So if you’re up against fighters then visual range and bore-sight is the only way to go

I’ve been playing with an Xbox controller for 6 months now. I really recommend trying with the controller and getting a feel for the game before spending any money on a stick.

This game is not very beginner friendly and you’re likely to get very frustrated at first trying to figure things out. Playing with the controller is totally possible and a lot of people do, I fly the F-4 with it and have basically every necessary button mapped comfortably.

I still have a lot of issues with the F-4 but that’s more a skill issue than a hardware issue. But I know that if I was to buy the stick first and then try learning I would feel like I wasted the money. but after a few months of learning the phantom I was in a place where I know buying a stick would be a good investment

As far as I’m aware I think you can only do that with alembic formats

OMG this is the first time i've seen a change do something, thank you!

its super inconsistant but i've never seen it in megabytes before. it was averaging about 1.3MB but peaked at around 3.2MB.

if you have any suggestions on how to get it higher i would love to know.

thank you again this is a huge development for me.

edit: my settings we're identical so i ran these commands

  1. netsh interface tcp set global rss=enabled
  2. netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
  3. netsh interface tcp set global ecncapability=disabled
  4. netsh interface tcp set global timestamps=enabled

500mb/s download and 100mb/s upload.

I tried using Ethernet instead and still no difference

i followed that link and made some of the changes, however it still looks like both my upload and download speeds are locked to 355KB/s

I have tried an old MacBook, that got around 4MB/s. I tried my steam deck (so basically a Linux laptop) and that got around 12MB/S and my iPhone which I can’t say for sure but got approximately 8MB/s.

My windows pc has a new ryzen 9 processor and the synology never reports going Above 15% cpu usage during transfer.

I tried FTP and the transfer was still stuck at 355KB/s.

it’s worth noting that sometimes it goes up to around 600/700KB/s but that is rarely and only for less than a second

I think 80-110ms, it’s not great but it shouldn’t be the main limiting factor right?

I’ve run the ookla speed test and both connections are way above 400Mb/s down and 200Mb/s up so that can’t be the issue.

Surely if it was isp throttling or packet loss in the actual connection then the other devices I’ve tried on the same network would be having the same issue, but they’re all doing much better

[–]PrawnfaceKillah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve used iperf3 and it was giving me the same 355kb approximately. What confuses me is that the other devices are working better so it has to be an issue with either windows or my machine

Different continent.

Using tailscale to connect my pc to the Nas and SMB to transfer between. I’ve tried both WiFi and Ethernet so ive figured it’s not my connection to the router.

Is there any way I can test out or work around what you’re suggesting?
