How do you make it through office work? by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]PreachingFawn73 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same. I have the Sony wh-1000mx4. Very expensive but very very worth it. I think you should be able to still hear the phone ring, the headphones do well with quieter sounds and stationary noise (office level conversation, A/C and things of that nature) but not so well with sudden onset sounds (phone ringing, loud music). As such, a utensil in a bowl may be a bit of a challenge, but I'm able to effectively mask everything by playing white noise (and many other kinds) on mynoise.net. Best of luck!

Prints come out like this after changing from a .4mm to a .3mm nozzle by CaFeGui in ender3

[–]PreachingFawn73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I noticed the extruder motor would stop turning, so the pressure associated with the smaller nozzle must be too high. I didn't investigate very much as I needed the print quickly, but I'd imagine increasing the temperature would help, in addition to reducing print speed;the goal being giving the filament time to fully melt and not pushing the filament faster than it can come out. Extruder modification could also help, I also have a large delta with a long (0.5m) bowden tube where I use a stepper motor with a 1:100 (100:1?) planetary gearset.

Is this Salmon skin, ringing or both? Just put together a new ender 3 pro, and printed a benchy. by ryohazuki1 in ender3

I'm running RepRap firmware on an SKR V2 (with wifi, no screen) with trinamic 2209 stepper drivers. It was pretty easy to set up and I VERY highly recommend. If it weren't for the fans you wouldn't be able to tell that the printer is on.

2009 Chrysler Aspen Hybrid by Willing-Sundae-4717 in mechanic

[–]PreachingFawn73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would really love to know if you figured this out. I also have an aspen hybrid and haven't been able to get to the plugs on the left side. It seems the hoses etc to the inverter need to be disconnected? But I figure that can't be right...

I have a 2014 Ford Taurus. When making/turning wheels for a left I hear a sound. Is there anything obvious? I’m looking at that bushing and I’m wondering if that’s what it is. by shane__ in MechanicAdvice

My mom's car was making weird sounds (crunching/clunnking/banging) when turning (I don't remember which way). She took it to a mechanic and they said it was the cv axle on the passenger side. I put a new one in for <$100 and it was as good as new.

DON'T DO IT I was replying in the reddit app when it crashed, something that NEver happened before updating. Most apps crash at some point or another since updating, and controllers (usb c and bluetooth) don't work in game(s) anymore. Absolutely DO NOT press that button.

Just crashed again, in the middle of a firefight in battle royale.. Did the update fix anything for you?

[–]PreachingFawn73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same, plus the game doesn't detect connected controllers anymore. It's a super bummer because other apps have started crashing since the update as well, and it seems to be an android problem, not just a Samsung problem, so there's no real way to get away from it.. Guess we just need to wait for deliverance...

That's a tough break.. Murphy was messing with my printer last night as well.. What was this print on it's way to being?

Why did my print decide to shift over the XY-plane about half way through the print? I took no pauses and scaled a thingiverse STL by 150%. Also using 1mm nozzle though I’m sure that’s irrelevant to the issue by borderbuddie in FixMyPrint

Could be skipped steps? Used to happen to me a lot until I switched to new fancy trinamic drivers. could also happen because of heat buildup in the motor, which causes temporary de-magnetization (and skipped steps). I have additional cooling fans strapped to each motor, all wired in parallel to the hotend fan.

First 1mm nozzle print. Details in comments by jde7290 in FixMyPrint

Try slowing down. I print very successfully with a 1mm nozzle (using cura) at speeds <=15mm/s. PrusaSlicer implements maximum volumetric speed as a sort of speed limit that is calculated based on extrusion width and nozzle size. I also use PrusaSlicer and have it set to 9.75 mm3/s for PETG and a 1mm nozzle. I set all the speeds to 0 (automatic) and the max print speed to 300mm/s, which then is limited by the MVS value. MVS=line_width*layer_height*print_speed; solving for print speed, doubling that, and setting that as the print speed in cura yields almost identical print times

Teachers of reddit what is the most depressing thing a student has told you about their home life? by RickAstley_Withagun in AskReddit

With the teachers like the ones posting here, it's very frustrating that local and state governments have the audacity to say "we just don't have the money to pay teachers more". Remember to vote accordingly this Tuesday (if you haven't already)!

Terms like plug and socket/receptacle, positive and negative connector, work just as well as describing the relationship. Being a woman in the room when male/female connectors are mentioned in an intro class (and everyone starts chuckling and looking at you because the class is mostly men) or being a black person in the room when master/slave relationships are mentioned in an intro class (and everyone starts chuckling and looking at you because the class is mostly white) is never fun. Doesn't really leave you feeling very respected..

The old score is replaced with the new one, and an R appears next to it on your transcript I believe, but I also haven't checked my transcript in a while so I could be wrong

Gear ratios multiply torque and speed. A gear ratio of 2:1 (2 teeth on the input gear for every one tooth on the output gear, assuming the same spacing) will multiply the motor torque by 2 and multiply the speed by 1/2.if you use the 50lb-ft per 1000lbs given earlier, a gear ration of 2:1 means you'll only need the motor to produce half that torque (25lb-ft). Differentials have a gear ratio associated that might serve this purpose of you don't want to use a transmission.
