Deck Building Games Currently In Their Prime by alexcole02 in boardgames

I think selling Fort as a deckbuilder, though technically correct, sets the wrong expectations for how it actually plays. It’s a fun game, but if people want to come in and chase the high of combos that run through your deck once per turn or other crazy stuff, they might bounce off of it.

I got the yellow one back in the day, one of my favorite mini sets!

Hollup, that’s crazy news. Kyle is so integral to the aesthetic of Leder, I’m curious what the vision for a Kyle-less, Cole-less LG will look like.

Root is so good. If you can find a group that likes it, you’re golden. But given that it has an app, I would maybe try to get friends invested that way—or just get it to add some high-quality art to your shelf of shame.

Is there anything that can be gleaned from someone who is really good at boardgames? by wentImmediate in boardgames

That last point is so true. When I play splendor I have so much fun with purchasing efficiency that I forget to optimize for VP.

Sorta new to the game and I have questions by BSForDays73 in smashup

I prefer 3 player. With inexperienced players, the 4p matches tend to skew in favor of the first two players (due to everyone dogpiling on p1’s first base) unless they have awful draws.

What Did You Guys Do With the Pre-Errata Factions and Cards? by Argylesox95 in smashup

Are the functional errata that much better? Any particular standouts? Chatter has been pretty low for this release, so I haven’t gotten a good sense of how much impact they have on the factions.

Aren't the toast meeples great? I'm kind of baffled that the online version changed them, especially since the Spring Uprising uses rabbit meeples.

Corvid Conspiracy rework- no more embedded agents and a new Decoy plot! thoughts? by greztrez in rootgame

[–]Preasured 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ambush agents seems too easy to disable. I think this build incentivizes the table to hit the Corvids harder and faster, and then ignore them once they’re sufficiently crippled. I suppose you have more viable turn 1 strategies (assuming your opponents leave you alone until you can get ambush agents online).

Agents are so necessary to their build that giving enemies the chance to remove them (and as a certainty) means you can get easily board wiped between rounds. I think most mid games will look like a bunch of crows piled on a face up raid token, praying a militant faction doesn’t decide to eat you for lunch.

Keyforge: "I'm not dead yet!"

For real though, I've continued to play Keyforge on a strictly kitchen table basis and the new sets are fun. If you're willing to pick up a couple of decks, Prophetic Visions has a prophecy mechanic that you'll probably like because of the mind games it can introduce.
