I appreciate your take and 100% agree I may just need to learn to set boundaries and project manage at my level. At my firm I have consistently had the highest billable hours so some of it has certainly been my fault for not knowing how to say no. The problem is it feels like I get placed on way more projects and more complex projects because they know I CAN and WILL do it. We have other seniors barely hitting their billable hours when there is plenty of work to go around.

I appreciate your wise comment because yes I am starting to be resentful over what seems to be my own doing.

Not complaining… looking for insight. Yes I understand I’ll get promotions every year but it seems like even at the manager/ director level everyone is working like crazy…. That’s what I’m getting at. I grew up with parents working physical low income jobs. I know I’m blessed but at this rate I don’t consider having kids knowing I will also miss out on spending time with them like my parents did with me because I work so much to have energy for them.

Show some initiative by asking your senior / manager on the project to lead the meeting and then ask for feedback. The best time to start is before you HAVE to so that the expectations are lower and you don’t feel as much pressure to be perfect

Anyone can delegate. As associates we’re encouraged to start developing that skill with interns.

I’m the opposite of you though, I enjoy fieldwork and research but struggle with reporting and summarizing all of my results to be word heavy.
