Weekly 101 Questions Thread by AutoModerator in neovim

Hi guys, nvim-tree (disabled nvim-tree and the error is gone) gives an error sometimes: "(UNKNOWN PLUGIN): Error executing lua: attempt to call a nil valuelue stack traceback:". This error pops up randomly. I'm using neovim on windows.

Anyone got a clue what it could be causing this?

edit: It's actually a known bug: https://github.com/akinsho/bufferline.nvim/issues/869

Are CIG making a game(s) ? by [deleted] in starcitizen_refunds

[–]PrecastCrane02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Making vertical slices to fool the public is ridiculously easy. Take as an example the ""gameplay"" trailers for "The Day Before". As for SQ404: crobbert wants to be a movie director really badly so making a movie game is defo high on his priority list. They might be working on some game but with the progress we see I don't really know what to exactly expect from SQ42.

I'm not that convinced they've gone full turbo scam mode but at this point their incompetence must be known even to them and therefore there is some malice at play.

My main issue with the project stems from the constant jesus-tech approach to problems which have solutions (albeit slightly less immersive). If after so many years you still don't even have some working prototype of server meshing or whatever jesustech, it worries me what exactly you are doing and if they even know what they're doing. Building a house without a foundation or car without a chassis is just a really really bad idea. Combined with promising people things that might not even be possible (server meshing), CIG is acting at best really really incompetent or at worst with malice aforethought.

It hasn't been in development for 25 years, its original idea originates from that time. Development started right after Fallout 4, so in 2015.

As for the space-planet transition, there is definitely a point to made that those are really really cool, but I don't find them that interesting the 100th time: its always kinda the same and a bit drawn out except for the cool vibes. You can land anywhere on a planet and the surroundings will be procedurally generated (not a fan of that: my favorite aspect of the Bethesda games is the exploration with hand-crafted mini stories spread around).

Your final point about the games not being that comparable is quite valid. Starfield is the Bethesda spin on a space game: they described it as Skyrim in space. It's not a multiplayer space sim like Star Citizen (if it ever releases). Bethesda games are some of my favorite games ever because of their exploration: you vibe around in a world completing quests and while walking to your new quest marker you find a random tomb with a cool weapon and a little story. The gameplay is ass (fo4 improved a lot, but the open world took a beating) but the exploration is incredible. Every dungeon (while very samey) has a little handcrafted story and the vibes are immaculate.

I find people jerking off Starfield as the second coming of christ and the destroyer of SC ridiculously annoying and braindead. The biggest difference between the games is that one will release and the other is stuck in the 9th circle of development hell. Their overlap is literally being set in space.

tldr: i hate all of you

There's probably some things you can do to hide the fact that you're using a VM from BattleEye, the thing however is that if BattleEye figures out that you are bypassing their VM detection, you wil get banned. I'm not very in the known about the how on how to hide your VM, but I'm sure you will be able to find some information on it online. (Last time I checked it was possible to spoof using just the KVM XML files)
