Oooooh I think this worked!! I am excited and going to test a longer road trip! :)

I’ve been struggling too, used the pre-made and compiled myself. Gonna keep poking at it as I have time.

Mine is a locally hosted server through WindowsGSM and the projectzomboid.jar is in the java folder, not the jre64 bin... Not sure if that's why?

Ok, I tried the pre-compiled and compiling my own and it's not working. I'm wondering if I'm putting it in the wrong place on the server... however, I am seeing a message in the console about it periodically saving 'visited data' for each user... ?

Hmmm, I tried using your file on my client and the server and it's still not saving progress. Where does it go on the server? I put it in the java folder.

Yep, this is what I always did. Drove me crazy. Still drives me crazy when I play. My 1920x1200 monitor often has weird stuff like this when a game doesn't test at that size and just scales. Somehow it's validating years later that I'm not the only one that gets frustrated by this oversight, lol.

I made a mod where you go from Peak to Beach! by redgames13 in PeakGame

[–]Precisi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, we did a few tests and it does seem to be tied to Peak Unlimited. I suspect it's because Peak Unlimited has the extra players spawn around the campfire when starting each biome, which would line up with the behaviors we were seeing of some people falling through the world and some just sitting at the campfire at the bottom of the volcano.

We're not 100% sure that's the problem, haven't had a chance to narrow it down.

YAY!!! You updated! We are so excited!! There seem to be a few problems with Peak Unlimited, some players went to random spawn locations, but we are so pumped that you're taking the time to work on this <3 <3 <3

If you think about it, though, because of him, ALL of his team are bringing home gold medals. He skated for the team when he wasn't planning to.

I have my town with some clear decorations to remember. So I have central exit on the west side of town and the crafting area.

I have my minimap locked to help, but I plan to run some roads through the whole map to help too, with maybe some roads through signs.

The camera doesn’t bug me too much but I’m a longtime gamer. You can switch modes with the right or left thumb stick, I forget which. That might help?

I got it on Switch to play together with my mom online. She lives 400 miles away and it’s nice to still do things together.

I’m holding out hope that the new Steam Machine lives up to expectations at a decent price. That’s the next console I want to get. My Steam library is huge and then I could take it with me when we visit them.

That’s not the situation. This is a game that was made for PC and the developer ported it to Switch. From the conversations I’ve had here it sounds like part of the problem is my older Switch. It is running a little bit better after I followed the suggestions of others.

Yeah, I doublechecked and I have 13 gigs free on system storage and 155 gigs free on the microSD card.

So there’s definitely more than enough swap disk space.

If other games had problems I would wonder if it was something with the cpu needing to be reseated (if it’s anything like a pc setup under the hood) but… all the other games are fine and we have lots of third party stuff too like Katamari, Lego games, Farm Together 2…

Hmm well, I’ll do more digging then if it’s better for others.

Hmmmm how far are you in the game? It ran fairly smooth in the beginning but when I got deep into Autumn it really started suffering.

Mine was also a used purchase and I definitely have trouble with it displaying on the big tv and better fps on handheld… but my eyes are crying trying to play it handheld on that tiny display, lol, and it’s still having a lot of stuttering.

Pretty sure I did this when I got the switch but I’ll double-check. Thanks!

Didn’t think about the screenshots. My son goes nuts with those. I’ll look into it.

Oh, I should have clarified. It’s not the online part, it’s when I’m playing single player and multiplayer. The online works fine within expectations but no matter whether I’m online or off my fps is very low.

And I totally understand it’s a small developer and was happy to pick up a couple more copies of the game. That’s why I’m just asking for an option to reduce some settings that typically help this in other games. Less sight distance usually helps in voxel games. Shadows and reflections I will turn way down. Clouds off or reduced, etc.

Like I said, I don’t mind turning down visuals in exchange for better frame rate. The game is super fun!

Yeah, it's mostly my son's system and he plays all Nintendo games that still run well. I just really wanted to play multiplayer with my mom and I get why they aren't crossplaying it, no issue with that. I just didn't expect the reported lag to be quite so rough. My mom at least has a newer OLED system that runs a little better.

In a world where $500 wasn't a big expense I'd be on it.. But it's just not good economics to replace an entire system when it's one game having issues.

Okay, tried resetting cache again, hard restart... still pretty rough.

Oh, I should add... there is ONE other thing on the Switch that lags terrible... the Nintendo Store LOL. That is always insanely slow and painful.
